One more thing - with 4.1 coming "soon" (I think we all assume next week or two at most) - is Wow Insider going to do a new ZA/ZG overview article or two? I think there was a few from a druid's perspective a while back - but a "how to run Z(G|A) and not be a noob" would go quite far to help. Now if only Blizzard would gate access to the instances by quests that require players to follow the mechanics within the runs (e.g. cauldrons) ... But then again, I think there should be skill-building quest series that must be completed prior to being able to run heroics - but whadda I know... ;)

so why the hell do we need a full maintenance today wtf this is bullshit.
seems to me, blizzard entertainment is way over their fuking heads, they are way too big for their own britches, they cannot even handle the amount of people playing as it is. now we have to go through a full maintenance every single Tuesday? i call bullshit. wtf do these people do on weekdays? is this the only fucking day they work? grrrrr i hate tuesday it suks. there's nothing good about maintenance, nothing at all QQ this mother fuckers i don't care if i'm banned here, i only ever look at this stupid worthless insider site ONLY because wow is down, fuk u wow assholes
Ryan Apr 19th 2011 9:11AM
Cannot be downrated enough.
Do you realise how sad you sound?
"wtf do these people do on weekdays"
Erm, they work? You know, work?
Sorronia Apr 19th 2011 9:41AM
You sir, need to take a chill pill.
Birk Apr 19th 2011 9:42AM
Gath, I know you would do a much better job of handling server technology backing the biggest MMO in recorded history, but I'm afraid that armchair degree of yours just won't get you in the door.

So we see someone who is new to maintainence, and does not understand that it's been this way for 6 years.
Also does not understand what kind of work it does to maintain the servers, nor how many people it takes.
Please let me explain it to you this way.
Hey asshole, without Tuesday maintainence your server would eventually encounter a problem. You would start having problems in game, and could eventually lead to a server crash. And if the crash was bad enuf, leading to data loss. Your characters would be unplayable until they restored the data from backup, then that maintainence would be TEN TIMES longer than maintainence now. Maintainence requires the servers TO BE OFFLINE. They cannot do it while the servers are running. I could explain what they do, but you probably wouldn't understand it from the way your post is.
Xantenise Apr 19th 2011 10:50AM
"now we have to go through a full maintenance every single Tuesday?"
Been that way forever. I started playing in '06.
At some point, around then (or maybe '07) they played with doing live maintenance for a few weeks - the servers didn't go down but they did maintenance anyway. Obviously it didn't work, because it wasn't long before they went back to normal.
Utakata Apr 19th 2011 11:48AM
Imagine ending up in a PuG with this guy.
Wolfshanze Apr 19th 2011 11:54AM

Tuesday maintenance. This is nothing new. Maintenance...as in where they upgrade and fix crap that's broken, so folks like you don't endlessly QQ about how it's broken.
Here's a thought. Go outside, get some air to cool off that stressed, sweaty brow. Or even better, go get a job.
