I was present for the War Effort and the Opening of the Gate on US Whisperwind. While I know of other people who had experienced the mentioned bugs that had plagued the event, other than a 5 second lag, I have nothing to complain about from the event. Being a druid, and hearing that the boats were unusable, I teleported to Moonglade and flew down to Silithus. The Alex was correct in saying that this event, and the whole thing in general was one of the most epic events ever. It is sad that because of how unstable this event made the servers, that the original concepts behind the Dark Portal openings were scrapped. (At either a Blizzcon or old blue post, it was hinted that there was going to be a similarly large event for the Dark Portal at the start of TBC. The event would require a large number of warlocks channeling on the portal to open it, mean while demons came pouring out, trying to kill said warlocks, and they had to be protected otherwise the portal would not open.)
