Fantastic post. I to, would like the return to the Burning Crusade server only model. I'm a mage, but even I prefered the reputation aspect of back then. I knew which tanks/healers were to be played with/avoided and in turn I had to work hard to do my crowd-control/decursing for a chance to be invitied back but those healers and tanks who were good. You build respect for players, something that the continent wide dungeon finder doesn't offer.

As another mage main - i thought I'd also add my support here to the single server groups. When LFD was first introduced the asshattery was immediately thought of and the most responses was - 'well wait n see'.
Well I have waited and seen - and it is not good. There are more people ninjaing everything they can need on - reguardless of what they need or have (or others need or have). Rudeness and ignorance is common, all based on the fact there is little or no comeback for them.
If you say 'Hi' when you enter - theres a 50/50 chance you MAY be replied to, whereas before it was almost obligitary to be social (if you wanted a group at least).
TBH in TBC I had little problem finding a group as dps. I had an excellent reputation for knowing what I was doing, and being polite and helpful. I usually took between 10-15 mins to assemble a group for whereever we wanted to go- and the group usually then did at least 2-3 dungeons, often more. We talked and laughed when doing it - even to the point the best ever memory I had doing a heroic was with a drunk dwarf tank. We wiped - must have been at least 8 times. - mostly cos we were in stiches - its hard to tank heal or dps when the tears of laughter mean you cannot see the floor - let alone your monitor. Nowadays we seem to have problems grunting hello, and if someone loses a roll, your normally looking for a new group or at least a new member.
Overall my experiances in LFD are not good. I have been booted before the last boss - whilst being the only one to actually do his job with double the dps from the next dpser (cos under me was the tank), for a guildie to be invited for the last boss. Been moaned at several times for not healing (Im a mage ffs!!!), had innumerous requests (quite rudely worded too) to rez someone(again Im a mage - and no I dont have engineering),etc etc.... the full gauntlet of asshats it seems. On my tanks I refused to enter the queue unless its a mostly guild group needing 1 more. As it is the pathetic offering to bribe me, is really inadequate, and certainly not going to change my opinion. Is a 0.1-2.0% chance of a mount for my main worth an hour of frustration? Not in my book.
