We reviewed Greyfoo's new movie, Archaeology, last week. There were a surprising number of folks who had never seen Greyfoo's work until then, so I wanted to feature another one of his works. Scarlet Toy was written and created by Greyfoo for a contest. The rules for that contest kept him from using many fancy machinima tricks, so he focused on the story for this video.
The music and lyrics for Scarlet Toy really stick out in my mind. This kind of lament adds another layer of depth to the characters of the Scarlet Crusade, even if you think it all feels a bit tongue-in-cheek. It's a fun addition to the lore and background of the game, helping us draw out a little more of the play experience. Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! Have suggestions for machinima we ought to feature? Toss us an email at moviewatch@wowinsider.com.
I *LOVE* this movie. Greyfoo always has outstanding work, but this piece is especially good. There's nothing tongue in cheek about it ... it's a serious piece about the consequences of the Scarlet Crusade's campaign, and its subversion by the Burning Legion.
Greyfoo has an amazing ability to tell a story. The stories he chooses are almost always compelling and DIFFERENT. Who of us hasn't wondered about the back-story of a nameless Scarlet Crusader, or the guy who gives us our archeology quests?
I love it. He breaks the mould and does so with SKILL!

I haven't had the chance to see any of Greyfoo's films, but after seeing this I'll definitely check them out. The story was brilliant!

To be a nitpicker, this scarlet crusader does have a name - Herod. Or were you just using that phrase as a metaphorical example?
Either way, I totally agree with what you're saying otherwise. He's great, has great imagination and story telling abilities, and a great voice.

Yeah, I was using it as an example. :)
