"I PVP IRL."
There is no way in existence for me to facepalm at this as hard as it deserves to be facepalmed.

Yeah, I eye-rolled. I have friends who are in the military and are heavily involved in martial-arts. If they said this to me I'd tease them mercilessly and they know it. Smacks of chest-thumping.

It's fairly disturbing to trivialize it like that, but I really want to believe he takes his job deadly serious and was just cracking a joke for a game blog. So, uh, I will.
Still in fairly bad taste.

To be fair to Tenj, a lot of guys in the military learn to make crude, crass, and even outright offensive jokes like that. It's a way of staving off the grim reality of knowing that any day, at any time, you might be the one stapping on your gear and going out to shoot some guy. If you're even less lucky, you might just be the one to get snuffed out.
That's pretty much the nastiest job description in existence, so a lot of people learn to play it down with that kind of crude humor.

@ Omeg - you are right there. I guess that's why I shudder at hearing it called: Player vs. Player.
You're right though.
We don't know if our friend here has seen actual combat. Calling it pvp is shallow and odd but we don't know the intention.
