Breakfast Topic: Do you have a favorite race?

The majority of the people who play chose their main character's race because it appealed to them for one reason or another. Some people play a certain race because of the racial traits and the benefits they provide in a raid. The extra crit or intellect can be the defining choice when a raider is picking his or her race. A serious PvP player may choose his race based on the offensive or defensive racial traits for that race. For the average player, though, we choose our race because something appealed to us: the look of that race, the lore, or maybe it was the thought of how playing a certain race and class combination would play out.
My very first toon in WoW was a gnome rogue. The thought of something so small jumping out from the shadows and stabbing you in the kneecaps before vanishing made me laugh. I moved onto a dwarf hunter a few weeks later and never looked back. The dwarven race has always been my favorite because of their lore, the way they carry themselves, their attitude. When I think of dwarves, I think of Scotland and bagpipe music. In Wrath of the Lich King, I spent more time in the Howling Fjord than any other zone. If I could have taken the music from the Fjord and put it in Ironforge, my dwarf would have been drunk on ale and in heaven. Every character I have, save for my first rogue and my priest, is a dwarf.
What is your favorite race? Why does that race appeal to you? Are there any races that you can't stand to play or dislike in general?

Tauren! Gentle giants, possibly the least "natively" warlike of the WoW races. And what's not to like about /moo? :-)

Blood elf :) all day everyday!

i like blood elves better because every piece of armor from cloth to plate looks better on them, i also like my boots to look like boots rather than ankle traps

Goblins. I know they're the "new race", much like belfs from BC, but I don't think they're being as welcomed as the pretty pale elves were. At any rate, I play on an Rpvp server, and so I rolled Goblin just for fun. Then I got into a "mafia" style guild called Netherstorm Cartel. The rp as a Goblin is too fun. We can all be diverse in our own greedy ways, but it all comes back to "Gimme what I want or sleep with the fishes."
They're like zaney explosive-minded Gnomes who focus on wealth and don't have a problem with exploitation. Great race for bank robberies as well. =)

I do have a lot of affection for Tauren. If I could tolerate the rest of the horde, I'd be playing one. As it stands I'm ALWAYS going to hate fighting them.
My dwarf gal can't keep herself from cuddling male tauren whenever she can do so without getting killed. ;)

"Moo. Are you happy now?"

Tauren. Are. Awesome. And they are THE best race to wear the Savage Saronite Battlegear.

Yup human.... cause... you know.... I'm a human.
:)

Almost every character I have is a gnome.

I don't get why anyone would want to play what they are in real life. Unless it's because they like the lore of Azeroth humans, then that's cool. But to play a human simply because that's what we are IRL? So boring.

I'm with Shinae, I never play a human in any game unless I'm forced to (like Mass Effect). Especially when I can play a werewolf.

meh, I used to play only humans because I hated the way that armor looked on almost any other race. I want to see my boots, not hooves, I hate the hunched over look and I can't stand the jumping animations of belves or the way the males (which is what I always play) have their arms bent at unnatural angles when standing still. Or the way they look like a fatty sucking in huge breaths after a marathon while they're standing still. Did I mention I hate playing belves? I think I did. Just in case I didn't, I hate playing belves.

I play a human because in real life I've a weak body. I've health issues and I can't do a lot of physical things. But in WoW I am a sword and shield wearing, death dealing, tank of a warrior.
I can wish that I resembled my human warrior that I've been playing for over six years now, but I'm probably as similar to him as you are to whatever race you choose.

I love the humans because they always of just how resilient they are. The horde invades out of nowhere, the humans perservere. The Scourge consumes Lordaeron, humanity lives on.
And there are so many awesome heroes and villians who are, or orignially were boring plain old humans -Anduin Lothar, Turalyon, Arthas, Medivh, Jaina , the Wrynn family, the Greymanes, Bolvar, Tirion, all the Mograines, the Trollbane dynasty, Matthias Shaw, Nathanos the Blightcaller, John J. Keeshan, all of them total badasses!
There really is no other race like humanity.
Oh, and yeah, I thought I might as well stick what I was familiar with when I made my first toon...

Not gonna lie my first character ever was a human warrior because of the same reason, i AM a human and if i cant be a warrior in real life why not in the game, and identify myself with it, i feel comfortable with how i look and feel as ME right now why not try to represent that same confidence and feeling to the game as well?

Dwarves! I have a lock, hunter, rogue, priest, shammy! /drink
I have a little lvl 22 Tauren alt that I love as well. /moo

Agreed; Dwarves for a number of reasons:
*Most armor looks very good on them without visual stretching of the textures typical of the taller races
*Their animations are visually appealing for both sexes, casters, melee, and ranged classes
*Their selection of faces, hair, and skin tones are varied and well done, particularly since 3.0.2
*Unlike most races, I have never tired of the voices (which gets important after the hundredth, "I can't cast that yet")
*Tons and tons of lore; we'll never run out of evil to fight and Legendaries to equip with these guys continually digging it all up
*Best beards in the game
*Have you seen the original cinematic with the Dwarf Hunter? Reason enough to play one
*Because Gimli > Legolas
*Brewfest
*The Bronzebeards
*Best /flirt and /silly emotes in the game
