Breakfast Topic: What's your favorite WoW holiday?

Everywhere my characters went at the beginning of the year, NPCs were shouting "Happy Lunar Festival!" Elders waited to hand out Coins of Ancestry. And yes, yes, I indeed slew Omen. It made me think about all the holidays that WoW includes. Whether you are risking your life trying to get to an Elder you know is hidden in a dungeon during the Lunar Festival, searching for bonfires during the Midsummer Fire Festival, or stuffing yourself silly on Noblegarden chocolate, everyone has a favorite in-game holiday.
I started playing near Halloween about 5 years ago. The person who taught me to play didn't tell me that the citizens of Azeroth liked to celebrate holidays as well. So imagine my surprise when I logged on, went to Stormwind, and found giant pumpkins staring at me, people wearing costumes and silly masks, and innkeepers handing out treats! Halloween is my favorite holiday in the real world, so when I logged on and found out I got to celebrate in game for a week? Yes, please! It made me love the game that much more.
Over the years, I have gotten to experience all the holidays that World of Warcraft has to offer. Each of them has a little something I love. Pets from Children's Week. Pretty dresses during Love is in the Air. And who hasn't taken on Coren Direbrew trying to get that Brewfest Ram? Hallow's Eve is still my favorite. Midsummer Fire Festival is a close second, because I love the excitement that comes from running full speed into the other faction's cities and stealing their flames. But no matter what holiday the citizens of Azeroth are decorating for, I am having fun just because it's a break from the norm for a week or two. Who doesn't love a break from the grind?
What's your favorite in-game holiday?

Brewfest, just for the background voices.

Love brewfest. The background or ambient noises drive me up the wall though. Maybe because I run 5+ toons through it (and counting) usually doing the dailies I can't get far enough away from it. And for some reason, lag or other I have had it carry all the way to the tram :P

I've found that the background stuff has to run it's course. So, in a way, it does follow you.

--and because you can drink as much as you want at Brewfest in-game and still wake up for work the next morning.
Am I right or am I right?

Winters Veil.
More so the memory of when it first went live back in 2004. Since it hasn't changed at ALL for 6 years (with the exception of the presents), not so much anymore though.

Almost none of them ... why ? Because for the most part Blizzard refuses to change them in any way at all, so when they roll around there's absolutely nothing at all for your main to do. I'm not one of those players that must have every achievement, mount, pet etc. on every toon, so when these events come up its very disappointing having nothing to do. in a time when player numbers are dropping its a very blase attitude from Blizzard and the B team. Here we are, new expansion, Noblegarden and from what I can tell ... no changes. Would love to eat humble pie if I'm proved wrong !

Here's some humble pie: Blizzard's subscriber base is getting LARGER, not smaller.

Really? They haven't changed?
You clearly don't remember Love is in the Air from a couple of years ago, then.

Are you kidding me? I've been playing since vanilla WoW, and the holiday events are SIGNIFICANTLY better than they used to be.
You sound like you really haven't tried out and of the recent holiday events, they're pretty damn fun now a days--you should give them a contemporary try.

Oh, I remember Love in in the Air a few years ago. As RPers, my buddy and I had characters in a new relationship, and we both really wanted them to get the Love Fool title. I was "lucky" and got mine about mid-week. My friend got the title literally hours before the holiday ended, to the point of logging in on the hour every hour to try to get those freaking random drops (that now you can mostly buy).
It was frustrating, and silly, and I am glad Blizz changed things up for several of the holiday events--and added in new ones like Pilgrim's, so my new alts can learn to cook quickly and easily ;) Still haven't gotten the new pets from some of the changes/additions/updates to certain holidays, either.
There are a couple of non-meta-related achievements I've yet to get on my main thanks to RNG, and my few alts can each give a few of the funner ones a try. It gives rep, money, exp, RP props/clothing, or all of the above, so why not?
And while plenty of people have left the game over the years and at the start of each new expansion, plenty of folks also return to the game, or begin for the first time; subs are indeed up, given the celebration at passing each million mark.

Damn! Pointless bitching about self-inflicted circumstances ("I've been playing since Vanilla and there's nothing to do! I demand SIX GODDAMN YEARS WORTH of constant entertainment, Bliz! There's only like 1000 hours worth of stuff to do in Cata!"), saying that WoW is run by "The B Team" AND and that old trope about subscription numbers dropping? Three shots in one comment! I'll be drunk by the end of the first page!

Hallow's End is my favorite, that's also when I started playing about 3 years ago. I remember running up from the blood elf starting area to Falconwing Square only to have the headless horseman fly over my head. I panicked, and thought how am i supposed to get by him he's a level 12 elite?! Finally, he disappeared and I was relieved. Yep, I was indeed a newbie.

I started during the last days of Winter Veil. Christmas is my favorite out of game holiday. However I also like Hallows Eve as my favorite WoW holiday. There is just so much to do. Plus who doesn't like candy? My second would probably be Midsummer because of similar reasons. You get to go around visiting towns collecting XP/Gold along the way. Extinguishing the oppositions flames. Winter Veil is probably tied for second though. It will be interesting to see how or if they will change at all this year.
bandrules2006 Apr 24th 2011 8:34AM
I'd say Brewfest or Hallow's Eve.. Probably because of the cool mounts that I got last year on my main. (Ram and The Headless Horseman's).. But still, the events are quite awesome indeed..
Gracandrea Apr 24th 2011 8:39AM
Noblegarden. :)
It would be Children's Week (all the pets!) but Blizz won't change around that horrid achieve School of Hard Knocks. UGH

And someone should really report Blizzard to the Department of Social Services for allowing us, nay, making us drag children into dungeons to kill people. What kind of example are we setting for those young impressionable minds?
But the things we will do for the carrot. I'm riding a Violet Proto-drake.
Debesun Apr 24th 2011 8:40AM
Midsummer.
I've done it plenty of times before so the rewards offer me no real incentive but you'll still find me juggling torches, lighting fires, extinguishing fires, and spinning on the poles for little reason other than to see myself spin >.>
venslor Apr 24th 2011 3:02PM
I'm definitely with you. I'm not sure what it is about the Midsummer holiday, but I just get a big kick out of it. Maybe it was the first holiday that I seriously tried to do, maybe it is fun just spinning around the ... well, it's a may pole, but I can't remember if it has a different name. And the torch juggling, so much fun!

HALLOWS EVE !!!!!!!!!!
