The Queue: Stadium Love
And we'll complete the Metric weekend hat trick with this one. My jam!
Goah asked:
Does a boss's drops depend on when he spawns at a server reset or when you down him.
In FFXI drop rates were affected by time of day and/or day of the week. So a boss we didn't down last raid time may have different loot if we done him in the next raid slot?
A boss' loot is determined the moment the instance is created. Obviously there's some kind of algorithm used to determine the random numbers the game uses to decide which specific pieces of loot drop, but it's not as if you'd ever be able to figure it out and say, "Oh, if only we had brought another druid instead of another rogue, we'd have gotten four Conq tokens," or "Everyone plan to be here for exactly noon server time so we can get the MT his shield."
Razion asked:
Why do we have *two* ring and trinket slots? While it isn't hard to gear a toon as much as it was in say Vanilla or Burning Crusade, I still get the feeling when I'm gearing up a character that having both of those extra slots is a little excessive. If they removed both a ring and trinket slot, they would still have an even-count, and could have the UI still measure up evenly (just requires the moving of one slot over).
I don't really think you're going to find a satisfactory answer to this beyond that it's more fun to have more gearing options. Because it is! Trinkets are historically pretty dynamic, so of course you'd want more than one, and having two rings helps you fill gaps in your itemization more easily. And, lest we forget, the more slots you have to fill and the more items available for those slots, the fewer people are fighting over the same piece of gear.
Eloot asked:
Why do death knights not have a decomposed body like the forsaken? Does Blizz have a lore reason for this? Also, in the case of forsaken death knights, are they dead...again?
Forsaken characters have been buried and decomposing a while, but most death knight characters were raised immediately (or almost immediately) after being slain. Not enough time to have their jaw fall off or develop a taste for weird face strap things.
Forsaken death knights were and still are undead. This is just unfortunately the second time that it's happened to them.
Avan asked:
Who narrated the intro cutscenes for each race? I could swear I've heard them in other works, but I can't place my finger on the name or what works.
Tony Jay narrated the vanilla and BC character intros, but Earl Boen recorded all of the newer intros following Jay's death. Both are prolific voice actors that you've probably heard in a bunch of things before.
Xantenise asked:
As a player of Forsaken -- one of my characters is a diehard loyalist, but to the Horde. That is, Thrall's Horde -- not Garrosh Hellscream, and certainly not Sylvanas, but the Horde that was when it took her in when she broke away from the Scourge. (She's disgusted with what happened at the Wrathgate, actually.)
This isn't really a question, but I did want to address it. In the Arthas novel, Sylvanas straight-up admits that she was planning something similar to what Putress did; Putress just beat her to the punch. So maybe she was disgusted that somebody did it before her or that someone was scheming under her nose, but certainly not that it happened.

Q for the Q:
I read the patch notes put out by Blizzard for 4.1, and I didn't see anything about changes to mining/herbing. Is there any news to be had about the respawn rates of certain herbs or the possible drop in vendor value for Cata gems? Or do I have to wait until Tuesday afternoon to find out?
Scard Apr 24th 2011 2:39PM
Cut uncommon (green quality) Cataclysm gems' vendor value will be changing frm 9g to 75s. I can't provide a link but it's coming in 4.1.
Sally Bowls Apr 24th 2011 3:09PM
The 75s cut price has been known for quite a while and is expected. What I hear different guesses on (anyone who knows isn't saying) is the uncut common gem price.
A cut Alicite is going from 900s to 75s. Will an uncut alicite stay at 500s or drop as well?

lesicor.caerlon Apr 24th 2011 3:18PM
You can't provide a link because, afaik, it has never been directly confirmed by Blizzard.
Cut green quality gems' value has dropped to 75s on the PTR, but their uncut value has not changed (which is 5g). This will make the floor for Obsidium Ore 30g instead of the 54g if the change does make it live.
Your own answer is the correct one, we all have to wait and see until the patch goes live and see what happens.

Speaking of respawn rates, I just finished gathering the mats for the Turbo-Charged flying machine and WHAT IS THE DEAL WITH KHORIUM???
Has Blizz made any statement about why khorium has such a crap-tastic spawn rate? I mean, we're now 2 expansions passed when this stuff was supposed to be the hardest to find ore. So why are they keeping it that way now?
In fact, many have reported that since Cata hit, their normal khorium farming routes that would produce a stack or more of the ore a day, now barely breaks 8-10 ore! So apparently, not only is Blizz content with having this ore still be insanely hard to find dispite its outdated nature, but wanted to make it even harder to get.
Why???
Randy Apr 25th 2011 11:06AM
@Darkseid,
The problem with Khorium is that its the rare spawn of Adamantite, just like Titanium to Saroinite, and Pyrite to Elementium in Twilight Highlands (and Silver to Tin). If you don't have it being farmed regularly by a few people it just doesn't spawn much

hmm i was always wondering what makes Metric so great.
Noyou Apr 24th 2011 8:35PM
Haha. Here's to 5 more days of Metric :)

I like the idea of music to play with The Queue. I would like to nominate Black Rebel Motorcycle Club as next week's musical accompaniment!
Perhaps we could start with "Weapon of Choice"?

Necromancers are horrible Procrastinators.

C'mon Black08Mustang... you know you wanna click "play" on that video.

@ jrockzmyv382
I realize that I am not Black08Mustang but let me reply to you in his/her place.
I hit the play button on this just like the other ones and gave it 60 to 90 seconds to gauge my reaction.
And what I can say is “bland commercial band is both bland and commercial”. After three days I am glad that we are moving on. I would in fact rather hear some variation of that horrific Rebecca Black “Friday” thing that makes me want to shove an ice pick in my skull because at least I can register some sort of reaction to it other than a vague sense of sleepiness and utter boredom which is all that these songs by Metric can seem to inspire.
So there you have it, Haters gonna hate and whatnot…
Also for those interested the only even slightly tolerable version of “Friday” which I believe was posted a while back but I can’t recall by whom below. Break out those Ice picks. :)

Odinfrost, nobody has a problem with you hatin'. But, seriously, did you see Black08Mustang's comments? At least you were constructive rather than trolling.
Noyou Apr 24th 2011 8:41PM
What is bland and commercial to you sounds pretty damn good to me. But then I grew up listening to pop and alt rock in the 80s. I like Metric's sound. It's a little bit blondie meets Yeah Yeah Yeah's. It doesn't have the edge of either but not every piece of music on the radio needs to have edge. Since I have never heard of metric on the stations I listen to I would say it's not commercial. And like I said to mr. gray post- I hope we get Metric all week long. :D
Matheus314 Apr 25th 2011 1:01PM
"blondie meets Yeah Yeah Yeah's"???
Really?
I will miss The Queue this week then...

How can I invite my other alts into my bank guild? Anyway to do this without a second account or another player?
Amanda A. Apr 24th 2011 2:36PM
At this point, you need another player or account; you can't invite someone who's offline, and you can't be on 2 players at once. The new guild recruit might give you an option, but I've not played with it yet.
Your best bet might be to make a rank with recruit rights, nothing else, and ask a friend to help. :)
Ice Apr 24th 2011 7:36PM
I believe that in 4.1 you are able to request membership in your guild after you search it from guild finder and be able to invite them by dropping request and hopping to guild leader.
That would make sense right? I mean do we really have to wait someone to be online until we can accept their request? Tho I'm not sure will your own guild be in the list for some odd reason.
SO MANY UNANSWERED QUESTIONS ABOUT THE FEATURE.
Gladly it will be active in couple of days..
lolikitty Apr 25th 2011 2:23AM
I had the exact same problem : if you want to / have to do it on your own then you can create a trial account in 2 mns online, launch 2 game sessions, invite the trial account character, promote it, and voila! That's pretty much all you can do with that char though, as it has no access to the gbank, the AH, the mail, you can't even open an exchange window.
It's a good thing you can invite people from far away now in that case.
