Patch 4.1: Combat log addons cause framerate issues

It seems the issue is with addons that parse the combat log. There supposedly are fixes available, but at present, if you're running a damage meter or other combat log parse, you should most likely turn off your out-of-date addons until they've been updated. I can attest that at present, Skada does not seem to work at all with 4.1, and I'd definitely recommend turning it off.
Updated: Check your favorite addon sites for updates to patch 4.1. While I can't promise your personal favorite addon will be up to date, Skada has released an update that makes it usable with the current patch as of 5:29 PM eastern.

This is very good news to have, since tonight is raid night for a lot of people.
xenothaulus Apr 26th 2011 5:47PM
I have never understood having Tuesday as your raid night, worse when it's Patch Tuesday.
ObiChad Apr 26th 2011 6:20PM
Let's assume you want two raids nights and the weekends are not good. Let's further assume that you want to allow you raiders to pug on the weekend if they so desire. This leaves Tues, Wed, and Thurs as possible raid nights. Tue and Thur are then good picks if you like having a day off in between raids.

Recount is doing the same thing. I had to pause it within the UI so I could finish the first boss in the new instance. I'd recommend just disabling it for now if you haven't logged in yet.

Got about 1-5 fps while running the gauntlet in ZA. Logged off, disabled recount and MSBT. I was back to 100+ fps after that.
Cant imagine why that happened, but it was severe.

Add Carbonite and DBM to the ones giving issues.
Quorniya Apr 26th 2011 8:30PM
DBM has been updated! Rejoice, we can raid!

Given that there are lots of ways to parse combat logs AFTER the fact, I'm not broken-hearted to see that Skada/Recount may not work. Every unasked-for spam of the damage meters (invariably DPS, not damage done) makes me a little stabby.

SpamageMeters is your friend. Won't stop them from posting lolmeters, but it at least condenses them to a single line in the chat window

SpamageMeters looks like a marvelous thing. *installed*

Unfortunately, DPS meters aren't the only things that parse the combat log. My scrolling combat text add-on of choice, Parrot, also nukes performance. DataStore and/or Altaholic is also causing problems, but I don't know if that has to do with parses or not.

Looks like Skada was updated 12 minutes ago and that ticket set to fixed 14 minutes ago.

What about omen or tidy plates. Has anyone had issues with them?
Khirsah Apr 26th 2011 5:13PM
This may be a stupid question, but does it only affect that damage meter side of Skada? Can I still use it as my threat meter, as long as I disable the other functions? Can I even disable the other functions?
MysticalOS Apr 26th 2011 5:16PM
these mods are not causing issues unless they are OUT OF DATE. 4.1 made a MAJOR change to combat log, so these mods are generating hundreds upon hundreds of errors if they are not up to date. recount for example doesn't have a release out yet to fix it, but it has an ALPHA on wowace that works without fps issues.

You can TELL what he's saying is IMPORTANT because SOME words have bigger TEXT than others.

They are restarting realms, hopefully to apply a fix. I was trying to figure out which addon of mine was causing an issue, ended up just disabling all of them for now. Good to find this information. Thanks.

As of now SKADA Damage Meters is working again. Quartz has issues with swing timers. Big Brother causes odd combat lag. Death Note causes crashing. MIK SCT is broken, Outfitter doesnt even show up. Thats what I have found so far
