When I was in the hospital with a life-threatening condition, I stopped logging in for a month or so.
I still kept up with the guild and WOW Insider and other fansites through a limited internet resource in the hospital.

Same here. The immersion that this game brings can make you forget you're sick at all - it helps a great deal when recovering.

Same, when I lost my memory I had a pretty long break, was stuck in hospital and just feeling disorientated, eventually my friends were talking about wow, and I logged in to my deathknight, who was level capped and felt completely overwhelmed, took my a month to really get into it.
