Draenei by Sharm is sort of a love song to one of the finest races on Azeroth. (That's the draenei, in case that's not clear.) The video was mostly created to apply some images to the song, although the video is obviously mostly centered on the music.
The lyrics are just fine; I don't mean to disparage them, it's just that my focus on this piece is how well Sharm performs the song. She's really got one hell of a voice, and she manages to bring the guns to nearly every piece of music she performs.
By the way, this is a parody of Katy Perry's E.T., if you don't recognize it. Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! Have suggestions for machinima we ought to feature? Toss us an email at moviewatch@wowinsider.com.
I hate hip hop, but I must admit talent when I hear it. Sharm makes this sound great. Too bad the video was horrendously awful ... can we get Greyfoo or Leggs to do this instead?
And? Yes, of course it primarily came from the TBC intro except for the obvious Exodar shots and random WotLK segments. That doesn't excuse the fact that video presentation wasn't horrendously put together. I'd like a real machinima maker's take on that video, perhaps give it a go and see what they could do. I think it could be interesting, especially given Greyfoo's work on Exodar Disco.
Normally, Sharm is one of the absolute best female WoW singers..this though....*facepalm*
It's really, really off-key, and she has most of the lines from the original song in this. Also, blood elves in parts of her clips? Come on Sharm, I know you can do better than this!
Though just generally isn't my type of music, I have to give credit. The vocals and overall production value were incredible. Musically. The video... well, obviously, it was just there to add colors.
I hope some of those talented machinima makers out there pick this up and get something made. It's about time WoW got another video that isn't cheesy rap - and face it, the Draenei need some love.
I honestly wondered how long it would take for this to come about when I saw the original video. If a Draenei had been used as the female.. it would have come closer.. but all in all... well done.
I... don't even know what to say about this. If the lyrics were largely taken from a Rebecca Black song, that explains why they're, well, terrible. Sharm might have a beautiful voice, but all I heard was the auto-tuning.
I dig the sentiment, and the fact that it's neither belf rap or just another music video with wow imagery and a stock Emo or Nu-Metal song, but, blech. The song is way too close to the source material to call good.
Sorry, but the original sentence still makes perfect sense. The lyrics to this one sound like they were written by Mr. Stranger Danger in Rebecca Black's video, and if Katy Perry didn't have D-cups the only Google reference to "I Kissed A Girl" would go straight to Jill Sobule.
Kuni is correct, skimming the post I misread Katy Perry as Rebecca Black. Probably a freudian slip, because the comparison is apt, and Friday sprang to mind as I listened.
Misreading one sentence aside, it still isn't very good :-P

You realize everything in the video came from the CGI intros, right?

There's "horrendously put together", and "visually horrendous", I thought you were going with the latter.
jrockzmyv382 Apr 27th 2011 12:46PM
I fail to see how this is hip-hop...
Drakkenfyre Apr 27th 2011 12:16PM
Good song, but one thing, Draenei are not from another dimension.
Drakkenfyre Apr 27th 2011 11:20PM
People who downvote me:
Draenei are no more from a different dimension than Orcs are.
The original line should have been changed.

I think i just heard Sacco Squeee

o.O where is it really, REALLY off key?? I listened to this over and over again and... I really don't hear what you're talking about.
Trisong Apr 27th 2011 12:27PM
Am I the only one that thinks this song (E.T.) sounds...exactly like Tatu? You know, those Russian girls?

L2read?
"By the way, this is a parody of Katy Perry's E.T., if you don't recognize it."
Last sentence in the post.
SamLowry Apr 27th 2011 4:51PM
Maybe you should L2Read.
He didn't say the lyrics WERE taken from a Rebecca Black song, but they sounded like they could be.

"If the lyrics were largely taken from a Rebecca Black song, that explains why they're, well, terrible."
Not sound. If the lyrics were taken. Let's keep this going though! Your turn now ... I think I need to L2L2L2Read!
That sorta sounds like I'm trying to pull off a fatality in Mortal Kombat?
