a really simple addon for floating bars is Status Bars 2

It's not customizable at all really, just the bars you want, scale and position but it certainly serves the purpose you're looking for

IceHUD can also do what you're looking for. It's very simple to set up and can display as much (or as little) info as you need it to.

@ Naina - the only problem I have with using icehud to only display a few things is that i found it still used a lot of resources where as status bars it tiny, it could just be me though
