This is a positive change for me in my opinion. I have been missing the sense of community I use to feel that we had when realms were more self contained. I also think that the anonymity that it gave, made it so people felt they could and should be jackasses to each other as their was no social stigma or penalty for them doing so. It also allows people to build up a reputation within realm for being a solid tank or healer -- and makes it easier to pug with people if you have had some prior experience running with them.
