The Queue: Peter Petrelli, you are the bomb

Twowolves asked:
So, how long until the next expansion is announced? I don't think Blizz will sit on it for long. They want to keep our attention as GW2 and TOR roll towards release.
It'll be announced at this year's BlizzCon. That's just the way these things work.
Noyou asked:
We often see "12 million subscribers" as the consensus figure for WoW. Does that include inactive accounts or is that absolute paid/current subscribers?
Blizzard's definition of "subscriber" is the following, taken from its financial reports:
Its definition is actually surprisingly narrow (and honest, for that matter).
World of Warcraft subscribers are defined to include: (1) individuals who have paid a subscription fee or have an active prepaid card to play World of Warcraft , (2) those who have purchased the game and are within their free month of access, and (3) Internet Game Room players who have accessed the game over the last thirty days. The definition of subscribers does not include any players under free promotional subscriptions, expired or cancelled subscriptions, or expired prepaid cards.
Levi_young asked:
Is it a requirement that Death Knights be dead in order to be a Death Knight? That seems silly given "Death" is in the title but the reason I ask is because what about Arthas? I don't recall him ever dying until we slew him at ICC and he was a Death Knight, wasn't he? So was he dead or no, and if not how could he still be a Death Knight?
If you're a player death knight, you died. That much is explained in your introductory sequence. However, it doesn't appear to be a requirement that you die and be risen in order to become a death knight; you can just be turned into one, like Arthas, through necromantic energy. Lots of Scourge death knights appear to have been created or "gifted" that way, though admittedly it seems that you have to be willing for the transformation to occur. Whether or not the body of a death knight created in such a way is still biologically "alive" is still in question.
Condor asked:
Can I send heirlooms from an Alliance character on one server to a Horde alt on another?
Not yet. Blizzard has said it wants to add it, but the implementation is tricky.
Galestrom asked:
These past few weeks, raid attendance has taken something of a dive. Many cite the emergence of springtime, the sheer age of current raid-level content and other extenuating factors; my question is how common is this? Are many guilds experiencing something of a lull right now?
It could be anything, really; the reasons will vary from guild to guild. If you're battling burnout, our Officers' Quarters column has a great take on handling it.

Ragnaros says: The bomb has been planted...

Isn't that from the old school NES game where you were some jungle commando badass? Man that's some old school stuff.
Unless you're dropping some counterstrike hints in which case I feel old...
Deathshadows Apr 30th 2011 2:32PM
I think it's Counter Strike
Aticus Apr 30th 2011 4:07PM
And all raiders say, "Bomb defused."

@ Aticus : Counter Terrorists win.

I totally want a buddy movie with Ragnaros and Thrall - previously unlikely comrades - now forced to work together. The Twilight's Hammer has made an effort to control Ragnaros by capturing Thrall. Since neither of them are particularly willing, they now must work together to escape the Hammer's clutches.
Hollywood, make it happen.

Heroes: the story of two really funny Japanese guys and a bunch of other crap I don't care about.
Nadia Apr 30th 2011 12:18PM
Save the Japanese guys, save the show.
Too bad they picked the cheerleader and the serial killer instead.
Noah Apr 30th 2011 1:06PM
Don't bag on Heroes, that was a great show. Even though I STILL haven't finished season five.
Kevin Apr 30th 2011 1:29PM
Wow... that show actually lasted five seasons? People will watch anything.
MusedMoose Apr 30th 2011 1:47PM
I thought that the first season of Heroes was awesome. But in the second season, it really started to feel like they weren't sure what to do or where to go with the show; I don't know if that was because of the writers' strike or what. I watched the first two episodes of the third season, hoping it would get good again, and it just seemed ridiculous. *shrug* I still have my first season DVD set, though, so if I want I can pretend it stopped there. ^_^
RuzGofDI Apr 30th 2011 1:58PM
It lasted 4 seasons, but had 5 "Volumes" or major story arcs.
I own the first 3 seasons on DVD.
After watching the 3rd season, I put season 4 on my netflix cue.
I still haven't watched season 4.
LynMars Apr 30th 2011 2:19PM
@MusedMoose well, the original plan was to kill off/end the story of all the characters in season one and start over with a fresh cast and storyarc in season two, but that seemed a silly idea too, so they tried to keep going with the same characters, the writer's strike really didn't help, and they also relied way too heavily on external media like the webcomics to tell the main story and deal with the huge rotating cast.
So yeah. They really didn't know where they were going. I tried. I really did. I had to stop when Angela kept doing terrible things everyone forgave her for, including trying to turn Sylar into Nathan to cover the death, even from Peter and Claire (and giving bad reasons why their deus ex machina of Claire's uber healing wouldn't work on Nathan when it's worked every single other time; pretty sure the actor was just bailing while he could). And then the constant use of the resident hawt blonde as yet another of her own character's twins, dropping characters and storyarcs with no explanation (outside of webcomics), and just...ugh.
So disappointed, because it had potential, but like an M Night movie, it believed too much of its own early hype and thought it could get away with anything.
