I did 18k hps on the eagle boss yesterday (resto druid), and we wiped at 30%. I'm average i-level 351 and I like to believe a decent healer. I don't know what I could've done differently to win that fight, but I ended up with a bloody knuckle after I punched an inanimate object. Yes I know, anger issues and whatnot.

did you have a lot of melee? that fight is a nightmare with more than the tank and maybe one melee.

Definitely the group is a factor... I did that fight for the first time and my group got it with no problems... because there was only the tank in melee and everyone knew what they were doing. It's not really a very high damage fight if everyone's standing where they're supposed to.

If you are pulling 18K and wiping, that is a group problem, not a healer problem. I usually do around 10-11K and we get him down. you really just have to pay attention to the mechanics and the healing is not that intensive.

Yeah I believe we had 3 melee including the tank. I tried again after posting this and 3 melee again. (Probably hard to avoid when I queue with my wife, a rogue). What really helped was this time, the priest helped me out with mass dispel. When 3 people get that at a time and I spend 3 GCDs (not to mention that much mana) only to see 3 people get the debuff again... it's depressing. On the plus side, I found every other boss in the place to be easy compared to that!

Do Akil'zon with two healers, it is complete cheese.

Similar experience here. I tried healing it as a disc priest day before yesterday (Bouclier on Black Dragonflight if you want to armory and tell me how bad I am). We had 2 melee dps all pulling over 10k dps, and I was pulling around 11k hps. Closest we got was ~25% with me OOM. Ended up having a guildie resto druid take my place and me switching to tank. Even then the druid had to pull 17.7k HPS, and we still almost had multiple people die. There's no reason a 5-man boss should ever require more HPS than raid bosses half a tier above them. They need to do one of a few things to this fight:1) Increase the hit box so melee can spread out better2) Decrease frequency or damage of Static Disruption3) Make Static Disruption target only ranged classes4) Anything else that makes the incoming damage healable for groups with more than 1 melee.

Have everyone use AOE abilities when the birds are coming down, to kill a few off. Every little helps.

I wiped to the eagle boss several times yesterday while I was healing my guild's run as my priest. Dispelling made me OOM. I pointed out that all the debuff says it is is an increase to nature damage taken, so I should only have to worry about dispelling the tank. So the hunter used Aspect of the Wild for nature resistance, and it became so much easier to heal! That would also explain why it was also easier to heal on my shaman with her healing totem glyphed for resistance.

OMG thanks for posting. I really was being raked over the coals by the pugs in the group, a huntard called me fail, and my tank (a nice guy) said I needed more mastery as a Shaman to heal that. Yes, has been trying.
