Blizzard releases Cenarion Hatchling pet for Japan earthquake relief

Introducing the latest World of Warcraft companion up for adoption in the online Pet Store: the wild and noble Cenarion Hatchling! This little critter is the twin of the rare Hippogryph Hatchling pet players could randomly encounter in the first World of Warcraft Trading Card Game set, Heroes of Azeroth -- and he's emerged from the forests of Azeroth to lend a helping talon to some friends in need. For every Cenarion Hatchling purchased between now and July 31, 100% of the $10 USD adoption fee will be donated to the American Red Cross's Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami relief efforts. This support will enable the Red Cross to provide shelter, food, emotional support, and other assistance to victims of this disaster.

Buying this as soon as I get home tonight.

I'll be picking one up too! I am am avid pet hoarder(138 and counting!), but hate the idea of spending actual money on them. Having it as a gift for donating to a cause I would otherwise support is wonderful and I think Blizzard should do it more often.

To all the people who say Blizzard is an evil corporation bent on stealing all your money for themselves, I say this:
*Pulls out reading glasses and speech*
*Clears throat*
SUCK IT!!!*Gesture toward groin*
That is all.

Buying right now too! However..... WHERE IS MY FLYING LION MOUNT BLIZZ?????
Eirik May 2nd 2011 4:46PM
@Drack:
/me looks at a pixelated groin-guard in puzzlement
I'm sorry, friend, but you are a PG-rated character. I can't help you there.

LOL Drack!

Those eyes... THE EYES OF THE DIABLO!

Insta-bought. I really do love the pet store.
Sadly, it's killed my desire to play TCG lotto: why try for a pet or mount that's bound only to one character? The pet store's spoiled me!
Cheb May 2nd 2011 4:34PM
Lol, playing the TCG lotto killed my desire to play it. I spent almost $100 over a month awhile ago to try to get something, and I ended up with 2 Papa Hummel's, a fishing chair, and enough of those point cards to get 1 tabard. RNG hates me IRL too. I'm very pleased this guy is coming to the pet store; I've wanted one for a long time but have been unable to justify spending $100+(again) on ebay for it.

Even though I am a pet collector, I don't buy the Blizzard store pets. I will, however, make an exception for this one.
Good move, Blizz.
Luci May 2nd 2011 2:46PM
Same here - I usually do buy the charity ones, but with a 100% donation there is just no question. Plus, I have wanted this pet from the TCG forever.
So basically, it's like paying me to eat cake.

@Luci:
I was amazed to see it was 100%. Way to go, Blizzard!
relmatos May 2nd 2011 4:19PM
I refused to help blizzard cash in hiding behind the guise of charity when they offered 50% of the sales.
Since it's 100%, I purchased it immediately.
Zaniac May 3rd 2011 10:30AM
@relmatos
When they only donated 50% of the income, it was a brand new pet.
This isn't. They haven't done any work on it at all, besides changing the name...
That's right, this isn't even a re-PAINT. It's a duplicate. An exact copy.
As an owner of the original, I feel a little sad about that fact, but I still bought this one as well. It's for a good cause, and still counts towards the achievement at least.
I would much rather they spent the time and effort to create a brand new pet and only donated half the income, however. If I want to donate to a worthy cause, I don't need an excuse. I already did. My reason for buying this pet was simply that it was another pet. ... And it isn't really, is it?
Ominous May 2nd 2011 2:43PM
100%? Very noble. I'll have one!
Anteia May 2nd 2011 2:45PM
Bought one for myself and one for a friend. I've already donated quite a bit of money to Japan's relief.. but they're still struggling and people are starting to forget about them. So I actually found this to be very good timing on Blizzard's part. It's a reminder that it's by no means over for Japan and their recovery.
Skarn May 2nd 2011 3:15PM
Obviously they could have done this earlier, I wonder if this is why they waited. If so, pretty smart to drum up some extra donations for Japan after the initial surge has died off. Cool.
Hollow Leviathan May 2nd 2011 3:36PM
Speaking of forgetting about 'them', where's the option to donate to Haiti, instead?
Robby May 3rd 2011 1:28PM
@ Hollow
The Red Cross is great in that it doesn't use all its funding on one place. Japan might be the big one, but the Red Cross is still over in Haiti helping, as well as doing what they can for downtrodden families in America.
Chase May 2nd 2011 2:46PM
Screw you Blizzard, this is the only super unique thing I had... I hate you.
