Breakfast Topic: What happens next?

We don't know many of the stories left to tell in Cataclysm. The future of the blood elves lies in the unpublished prose of Lor'themar Theron's short story. Sylvanas' potential madness and craziness can have explanations hidden in those words. While the Firelands will continue the story of the rejuvenation of Hyjal, we still have much to learn about Malfurion and Tyrande and the night elves in general. So what comes next?
Will these stories shed light on these leaders and their peoples' futures? Can we expect timely lore reveals through these stories that will do part of the story advancement? Personally, I'm really excited for the next story.

I would like to know, as well.

I'm looking forward to Velen's, and to Lor'themar's. Lor'themar in particular needs something - anything! - to happen to him to save him from being a cardboard cutout.
I've always thought it was kinda odd that Lor'themar is still Regent Lord despite the death of the King he's supposedly Regent for and the (apparent) extinction of the Sunstrider dynasty. How long can that state of affairs continue? Will the House of Theron become regents for an empty throne, like the line of stewards of Gondor?

While poking around randomly on Wowpedia, i noticed that Lor'Themars short story, entitled ''In the Shadow of the Sun'' is already posted there. As far as i can tell from the quality of it, this is the genuine one Sarah Pine wrote originally. I have no idea how it came up there first but its there for anyone to enjoy.

@Blindworg: I'm pretty sure "In the Shadow of the Sun" was the Blizzard Global Contest Winner, not from this past one, but the one before that. It takes place between BC and WotLK, if I'm placing events correctly (Aethas asking for magisters to join him in Dalaran, still seething from Kael'thas' betrayal, the rejuvenation of the Sunwell via Naaru, etc).
Mortenebra May 5th 2011 9:07AM
That should say "Blizzard Global Writing Contest."
Derp.

Thanks for that; I found it at http://www.wowpedia.org/In_the_Shadow_of_the_Sun
It is indeed a very good read. Sylvanas' story is certainly reaching its conclusion, will probably finish in this expansion, however it will end. Whatever happens, I'm looking forward to seeing it.

Regarding In the Shadow of the Sun, while it probably is that story, I want to caution that it *might* actually be a new story by Sarah Pine using the same name. One that's actually supervised by an editor from CDev.
I sayd that because, while In the Shadow of the Sun is a nice read, it's not remotely relevant to current events.

I'd really like to see some advancement on the gnome storyline. Waited 5 years for more of their story, and it's essentially right back where it started, except now the gnomes aren't in Ironforge.
Lucidique May 5th 2011 10:23AM
Agreed. That disappointed me greatly. So much I hardly bothered actually doing the quests :/

Can't wait

Koltira and Lillian Voss (could kinda be seen as the leader of the valkyr risen forsaken). Both ended rather abruptly with a cliff hanger on the former, and I so hate cliff hangers.
Darky May 5th 2011 9:04AM
Woops thought this was only meant to be applied to faction leaders, which is why I added that bracket, I need sleep (or more coffee!).
HappyTreeDance May 5th 2011 10:36AM
Koltira and Lilian were my first two thoughts as well. I really like Koltira (...I like belf DKs in general) and when his storyline ended the way it did I was actually upset. I really hope Blizzard doesn't kill him off or make him go evil. I would actually like to see him and Lilian band together to fight Sylvanas when she eventually becomes an outright enemy of everyone, including the Horde and her own people.
Joey May 5th 2011 11:17AM
I feel like they won't make Lilian Voss a real character in the lore, mainly because she is pretty much directly based off of Liliana Vess, a necromancer from Magic: The Gathering.
trefpoid May 5th 2011 1:45PM
I really hope Lilian Voss becomes Sylvanas' greatest champion and no, I don't like y'all talking about killing our Banshee Queen >:( the Koltira thing was upseting though, I like him :(
Darky May 6th 2011 6:36AM
@ Joey, yes putting a pop culture figure as a major lore figure would never happen * hides Harrison Jones * :P.

Personally, I'm actually having trouble figuring out which one I'm most excited to see; so far, they've been very good.
Garrosh's in particular finally gave me some insight into his actions and his reasoning; suddenly, it seemed to make a lot more sense.
As a loyal gnome, I'm definitely jazzed to see Mechatorque's story. I'm guessing (being gnomish) it'll be more lighthearted, and like the goblin story, maybe light on the lore; that's okay, though; you kind of expect that with the gnomes.
Lore'themar (and the current state of the blood elves) is such a damned enigma, I'd be happy for any kind of story advancement there.
Velen's also appealing to me; what does he see as the draenei's purpose now, is there anything more he can tell us about the Naaru, and maybe most importantly, is there going to be any more detail about this great cosmic battle he sees in our future.
