"Fast patch" 4.1.0a patch notes

Just when you think you're used to the way things are going, Blizzard releases something new. Today's notes aren't a list of hotfixes; they're a "fast patch." This means when you log into World of Warcraft, you're going to have a mini-patch to download -- and it also means that some major issues are being addressed, including one that's been bugging raiders and anyone trying to use AoE spells since 4.1:
- The targeting reticule for AoE spells and abilities like Magmaw's chains should no longer disappear when players cast spells.
- Animations while mounted should work normally again. Say hello to your ponies, they're now moving correctly!
- Character legs should move properly when the character is moving.
See the rest of the notes for 4.1.0a after the break.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed an issue that sometimes caused player to disconnect when zoning into another location.
- The title Blackwing's Bane awarded for defeating Nefarian on Heroic difficulty is now selectable again by characters who have earned it.
- The targeting reticule should no longer disappear when players cast spells.
- Resolved some issues that were causing Movement Enforcement Errors.
- Resolved an issue affecting death knight runes after switching specializations.
- Party member positions should show up correctly when in dungeons.
- Animations while mounted should work normally again.
- NPCs should no longer be floating... unless they're meant to float.
- Character legs should move properly when the character is moving.
- Players using a single client to connect to multiple regions should be able to do so again.

What exactly are movement enforcement errors?
MusedMoose May 5th 2011 7:40PM
They're an error with enforcing movement.
...what?
Baba May 6th 2011 7:23AM
It was a bug where players would be set upon by stormwind guards when they tried to stop moving in SW - the guards would throw parking tickets at you until you started moving again.

"The targeting reticule should no longer disappear when players cast spells."
Is this like the Rain of Fire green circle? Or something else?
Anne Stickney May 5th 2011 8:24PM
It's any green targeting circle, yes.

Haha...goofy dungeons would definitely be fun, RP-immersion be damned!

:O
My goodness...I've gotten hit by the comment board boss! You'd think I'd have this **** down by now...
MusedMoose May 5th 2011 7:55PM
At least you got your head back!

I like this. ^_^ And the simplest way to justify it in-game? Gnomish technology gone horribly wrong. We've been running Gnomeregan for 6+ years, no one would question the gnomes screwing up elsewhere!
(To the gnomes: I say that with love.)

Character legs should move properly when the character is moving? I didn't notice the Ministry of Silly Walks anywhere... I'll have to look at my legs when I get back in there.
I didn't notice any floating NPCs... that weren't supposed to, either.
Kurtis May 5th 2011 8:54PM
The Horde quest givers in Tol Barad (and maybe the Alliance too?) - their windriders floated 3 feet off the ground without flapping their wings.
Amaxe May 6th 2011 2:00AM
Actually I saw a lot of mobs acting this way in Hyjal today.
roosterfish May 5th 2011 8:03PM
Oh that idea is just pure win. I'd run that dungeon.
tenaciousmonkey May 5th 2011 8:04PM
I'm assuming the floating NPC's will fix the Horde wyvern riders in TB, who for the past couple of days have been floating a couple of feet off the ground, without their flying animations. Either that, or they learned to levitate in their off time when TB is held by the Alliance.
Ellesmere May 6th 2011 1:01PM
On my server, they must be pretty fast learners, then...
AKA: Alliance hardly ever holds TB.

Yay for the mount fix! As a mount collector, it was driving me absolutely batty, never mind giving me a headache watching my characters bobble all around...
Though - unless I just am remembering wrong - the War Talbuks (all colors) still seem to be impacted by the "rocky rider" animation. Looks like Blizz fixed all of the other horse-based mounts (including "plain" talbuks) though!
arrowrest May 5th 2011 8:57PM
Yeah, I noticed that too about the talbuks. In addition, warlock's felsteeds and death knight's chargers are still not working properly. It looks like only standard horse animations were fixed.
Drakkenfyre May 5th 2011 9:06PM
Talbuks have always had that animation. What happened was they applied the Talbuk animation to all horse mounts.
Denae May 5th 2011 9:18PM
Were the War talbuks always like that, with a different riding animation? I rarely use mine - but I found it odd that the Riding Talbuks were back to normal, no rocking motion at all (hooray!). I assumed that the War talbuks would have had a similar animation.
Ah well - if they fixed most of them this quick, I'm sure the others will get addressed shortly.
