Quite correct. Oddly enough, they do have a recipe that calls for a chaos orb (other than dreamcloth): Black Embersilk Gown.

This makes it perhaps the most expensive crafted vanity item in the game.

.... Which makes me wonder if perhaps the recipe exists to allow tailors to collect chaos orbs for dreamcloth, where the "make dreamcloth using 5 orbs" recipe might somehow not qualify them? (In the absence of data, speculate!)
