Though it hasn't had an official preview yet, the tier 12 set for warriors is available in the
patch 4.2 PTR files, and
Wowhead dug it up along with recolors for all of the other
already-previewed tier 12 sets. You can even model them on the race and gender of your choice with the 3-D model viewer. If you can't see from the above picture, yes, those are molten giant heads on your shoulders, which is fitting, given the set's name of "Molten Giant Battlegear."
When you're done modeling your set on your character of choice, be sure to check out the
preliminary tier 12 set bonuses to go along with it.
The news is already rolling out for the upcoming WoW Patch 4.2! Preview the new Firelands raid, marvel at the new legendary staff, and get the inside scoop on new quest hubs -- plus new Tier 12 armor!

Looks... platey.
Nina Katarina May 5th 2011 2:05PM
With that floaty thing behind the head on the paladins, I can already hear the "who left the toilet seat up?" jokes forming.
It looks awesome otherwise, so I'm going to face a real dilemma on the display/don't display question.
Cyno01 May 5th 2011 2:32PM
It true the recolors will depend on your spec?
MattKrotzer May 5th 2011 2:40PM
An ironic question, considering the vast majority of the set is just recolored from old stuff.
Mattimus May 5th 2011 3:14PM
Every Tier set has had different colors since WotLK. Going from what they've done before, the recolors will probably just be non-tier gear drops from the raid itself.
Lloren May 5th 2011 2:36PM
I actually really like this. It's not overly enormous, actually looks like something a warrior might wear, is relatively unique compared to the rest of t12 we've seen so far, and yet keeps with a firelands motif.
shatto.a May 5th 2011 2:39PM
Oh yes indeed, this is shaping up to be an awesome raid patch.
Szass May 5th 2011 11:33PM
I agree with your original assessment.
Like Madeline Kahn said in Blazing Saddles, " How Ordinary."
MattKrotzer May 5th 2011 2:39PM
How strikingly original.
It has all the same plate graphic segmentation of the Wrath of the Lich King plate, but with a molten rock texture applied. The shoulders are rehashed models with rehashed face models from Molten Core strapped onto them. Old+Old≠New, Blizzard.
Sadly, they've once again decided on the bare midriff motif for the female version. At least it's mostly concealed by the WWE Women's Championship Belt.
Frustrating.
On the bright side, I really like the helm. It's arguably one of the best helms they've done in quite some time, in my opinion.
(cutaia) May 5th 2011 3:29PM
So I can see for myself what you're talking about, do you have a particular item set in mind that you're saying they're from?
MattKrotzer May 5th 2011 3:44PM
I'll try to look them up on modelviewer when I get home. The segment shapes have definitely been used before.
However, the more I look at the set with a non-critical eye (Sue me... graphic designer... goes with the territory) the more I like it. It does look nice. Just seems a bit derivative.
I'll try to find the pieces I'm referring to, though.
Also, I'll be the first to tell you that I always have very high expectations. That they pleased me with the helm is quite impressive.
MattKrotzer May 5th 2011 4:03PM
Crap. Really starting to have regrets for posting my first impressions.
The more time I spend looking at it, the more I'm liking it...
Man, I wish I had an edit button.
MattKrotzer May 5th 2011 5:54PM
Okay, been hitting up my modelviewer, and definitely think I overreacted. That said, I do a lot of modelviewer browsing, and so I see the armor template files a LOT. These aren't that far departed from some of their stock art resources. But hey, I guess that's why they're templates.
That said, there are some where you can see striking similarities.
The Blue Dragonscale Chestpiece. There's a bajillion chestpieces that share this model. It's not exactly a huge departure from the Tier 12 stuff. You can also see similarities to plate pieces like the Ivory-Reinforced Chestguard, Plate Mail Armor, Merciless Gladiator's Lamellar Chestpiece and Thaurissan's Breastplate.
None are exact, but you can see the template influence.
For pants, I immediately grabbed the Amberplate Legguards, because those were the model I was thinking of initially. Again, there's a ton of models that are just variations of color on this pattern. But it's not exact.
However, there's a model that is MUCH closer, and that's Earthen Legguards. Side by side, it's a little silly how apparent this is. Blizzard didn't really stretch too far from Tier 11 to Tier 12 on this one.
The boots are pretty much flat reskins of the Dawnbreaker Greaves/Sabtons from Trial of the Crusader, and the belt is just a rather basic reskin of the Jumbotron Power Belt.
Pretty sure if I spend the time, I'll find a base model for the shoulders, which were then just merged with the model from the giants, but at least it's technically a new 3D model, so I'll leave it be.
But yeah, as I was saying... the set's growing on me, and I REALLY like the helm.
Robert May 8th 2011 7:04PM
You do realize that the only pieces of armor that actually have unique models are the helm and shoulders, right? And the only pieces of armor besides those that even have more than one model are the belts, pants, gloves, and boots, all of which have only around four. The only thing that ever really changes is the texture, which is always unique.
MattKrotzer May 8th 2011 8:59PM
You realize my complaint was that the textures weren't even very unique, right?
Japith May 5th 2011 2:40PM
Awesome helm! So transformers gen 1. Looks like Soundwave.
Korris May 5th 2011 3:04PM
At least its better than the priest's Cauldron head... >.<
How to kill a priest in T12:
Step 1) get a bucket of water.
Step 2) fill priests cauldron-hat with said water.
Step 3) Wait...
Step 4) Congratulations you have successfully killed a priest in T12 via drowning.
MattKrotzer May 5th 2011 3:45PM
Does this mean Riptide can now be used offensively against priests?
PodPeople May 5th 2011 3:05PM
Maybe it's just me, but those colors seem to say DK not Warrior. Honestly, I don't have a good idea of what colors the warrior specs would/should be associated with. But don't those seem more like a good set for unholy, frost and blood?
StClair May 5th 2011 4:06PM
How do "bright primary colors on brown/black base" say DK to you?
