The Queue: Pause at just the right time

The weakened form of the Firelands boss Lord Rhyolith should be pretty familiar to those of you who played Mega Man 2.
Ottmin asked:
Do you think Blizzard will ever release new weapon classes like flails? I always thought it would be cool for my Tauren warrior to be swinging a giant ball and chain!
It's unlikely for a few reasons. First, there are already weapon types that few specs use (agility swords, for example). Second, a new weapon type would require new animations for every race and gender. Third, the types of weapons you see in Warcraft art and lore are already all present in the game in one way or another. The only glaring omission is Cairne's classic totem pole weapon.
Yous95 asked:
In patch 4.2, a new blue dragon aspect named Kalecgos (I think) is supposed to assume power of the Blue Dragonflight and the Aspect of Magic. How did this dragon come to power? Was he voted in, did he take it by force, is he Malygos's distant cousin, what? Also, is there any info at this time on what role he plays in acquiring the new legendary, Dragonwrath?
Kalecgos has been around in lore for a while, appearing in the Sunwell trilogy of novels, as a (possessed) boss in Magister's Terrace, and even showing up as the Blue Dragonflight representative at Wyrmrest Temple for the Quel'delar quest chain.
As for his new (apparently eventual) position, we don't know yet. As of the beginning of 4.2, Kalecgos isn't the new aspect yet. He and Arygos are both fighting for the same position, with Kalecgos being on the side of mortals and Arygos being more on Old Man Malygos' side.
Truthfully, we have no idea how appointing a new aspect works, because this is the first time it's really needed to happen. We know that the aspects don't physically control their particular domain, because the death of Malygos didn't cause the world's magic to explode or anything, so it seems to be more of an arbiter, an administrator, than a containing force. 4.2 should shed a little more light on the process, in any event.
Moobs asked:
On hierloom gear is the percentage bonus flat or does it stack with each piece of gear you get?
i.e. You have 3 pieces of hierloom gear 2 are a 10% xp gain and the other one is 5% xp gain but you only get 10% xp gain? OR you have the above emntioned pieces of gear and you now have 25% more xp gains per kill?
Also does this stack with your guild's 10% increase for xp gain?
They all stack, and they're additive, not multiplicative. A 10% heirloom/perk plus a 10% heirloom gives you a 20% increased experience gain.
Udderpowered asked:
If Ragnaros is going to be killed in the firelands, will he be dead dead this time? Or just 'temporarily defeated' again?
If he dies in the Firelands, he dies for real. The perils and pitfalls of being an elemental -- you're at your most powerful but most vulnerable in your home plane.
Paul Duchesne asked:
Dear Queue, I know we just hit 4.1. But is there any ETA on 4.2?
I would be incredibly surprised if 4.2 hit any later than late June. We know that Firelands art assets are nearly done, which is what takes the most development time. What's left is relatively minor in terms of the amount of time Blizzard needs to dedicate to it.
Pepijn asked:
Q for the queue : can you change valor- to justice points??? I want heirlooms faster, and have tons of valor points I dont use.
Yep! I believe the valor point vendor will down-convert VP to JP.

I think Kalecgos was in Sunwell instead of Magisters Terrace.
Aaron May 6th 2011 11:08AM
Run Magister's Terrace and click the orb. The dragon that flies down is Kalecgos. ;-)
Vaeku May 6th 2011 11:09AM
This. He was in the Sunwell, which is the raid. Magister's Terrace is a 5-man.
Vyle May 6th 2011 11:11AM
Oh thats right. You meet him there but actually fight him in the Sunwell raid. I guess it has been a while since BC.

If you are Horde you will get a quest from him to go find everyone's favorite Blue Dragon, Azuregos (vanilla out door raid boss in Azshara). He and the big blue help you fight off a black dragon invasion. The chain is one of the more annoying/fun ones I have ever dealt with.
If you have a Horde toon and haven't done Azshara, go do this chain, it is more than worth it.
Hmmm, I never did get the Sindragosa weekly in ICC, but apparently he was the quest NPC. See below.

For all your Kalecgos info needs.

There's a very spoiler-laden post on mmo-champion about the ascension of a new Blue Aspect, if you can't wait until 4.2 to find out what happens :)

The Azuregos/Kalecgos quest chain in Azshara is easily the most entertaining in a zone full of entertaining questlines. Just make sure you take the time to read everything and soak in Azuregos' cynicism and sense of humor. I lol'd. A lot.

I remember when I first saw Kalecgos in MgT I thought his bright blue hair heralded what was to come with the new barber shops in wrath. Alas we were spared faction cities that could have looked like a clown convention.

Question:
I know The Overachiever here on WoW Insider are doing/just did a full guide on the Mountain O' Mounts achievement... I was wondering if there will be a guide for the companion pets anytime soon, or if there has been one. Thanks =)
Brett Porter May 6th 2011 11:15AM
Oooh I'd like to know as well for my pet collecting toon!
Spelio May 6th 2011 11:33AM
http://warcraftpets.com/wow.pets/index.asp is a good place to start.
This site has a list of all the vanity pets available and can link you to where they can be found. It's not really a farming guide but it may be able to help you locate the mobs that drop pets and the locations of those mobs. As an avid collector of vanity pets it has helped me a lot.
Good Luck and Happy Hunting!!

I did a quick-ish guide to Lil' Game Hunter a looooooong time ago, but I think you're right that the time's ripe for an update. I'll have OA examine it after we finish the Mountain O' Mounts series.
If you're interested, the original OA is here: http://wow.joystiq.com/2009/02/26/the-overachiever-lil-game-hunter/
Hal May 6th 2011 11:05AM
If that picture up above is the boss in question, he looks like the Yellow Devil, who was in MM1 and MM3.
Task May 6th 2011 11:13AM
@Hal
I agree he does have a very familiar resemblance.
@Mike Sacco
Does this mean we get to use a Mega Buster on Lord Ryokith's face... I mean eye?
Idaelus May 6th 2011 11:13AM
Wow, yeah he does. I didn't even notice till you pointed it out. That guy was (in MM1) the bane of my existence for a loooooong time.
Curse you Nintendo Hard! Curse yoooooooooooou!
Task May 6th 2011 11:15AM
I mean Ryolith.. Stupid iPhone keypad...
Idaelus May 6th 2011 11:17AM
And I understand the title now.
Well played, Sacco.
bspauldin May 6th 2011 11:18AM
Really? I thought he was from Scooby Doo...seriously.
Magus May 6th 2011 12:05PM
From the 4.2.1 Patch notes:
- Damage from Chain Lightning and Heroic Throw are now calculated on the server side. We found that client latency was causing these abilities to continuously apply damage to Lord Rhyolith, which greatly decreases the difficulty of the encounter.
Powazul May 6th 2011 12:18PM
I guess raids will have to stack shamans for Rhyolith.
