What's your dream cast for the Warcraft movie?

A few weeks ago, Hollywood headlines were filled with talk that director Sam Raimi is trying to secure Hilary Swank for his next film, Oz: The Great and Powerful. Now, I know that's not especially interesting to the Warcraft community, but it got me thinking about the Warcraft film again, since Raimi will eventually be directing it. Who will Raimi try to cast in the Warcraft movie?

Then around the same time, the WoW Insider team got word on the further developments of Michele Morrow's campaign to land the role of Sylvanas Windrunner. This sparked the idea that someone on staff should put together a dream cast for the future Warcraft movie. As the token film school dropout, I jumped on the assignment and promptly put together the most expensive movie cast list ever.

Have to disagree with you about Cage and Vol'jin; Cage is just way too... excitable. Angst, anguish, high energy; that's the kind of thing Cage usually brings to a role; none of that fits Vol'jin very well. His character is more likely to threaten you with a murderous whisper than a shout; he doesn't lose his cool the way most of Cage's characters do.

For Vol'jin, I see someone more like Javier Bardem in No Country for Old Men.

If any trolls are casted (which I dooubt), I'd prefer they'd be actors who can speak like islanders, such as Rudolf Walker and Lenny Henry.

I dunno, I kind of picture Morgan Freeman as Vol'Jin. He has that perfect voice. I'm sure he could pull off a Troll accent, and he has that leader vibe about him. If he could pull off being God, the President of the US, and Malcolm X, I think he could pull off a very convincing and good Vol'Jin.

A lot of those actors are all well and good, (Scarlett Johanson and Gary Oldman plz) but I REALLY hope Raimi doesn't fill the cast with super famous people just for their names (because IMO, that's the only reason anyone uses Jolie =\).

Take LotR for example. Most of those actors were unheard of, and those who were heard of weren't super famous. Those turned out to be some of the greatest movies of all time, and greatest fantasy movies by far.

I would love to see some fresh new faces in the Warcraft movie, not famous ones. Of course, only if those fresh new faces are good actors. :D

Sam Raimi is actually a really interesting guy for casting. I respect him a lot for that. He fought against studios to cast Tobey McGuire for Spider-man over the much sexier and marketable Wes Bentley. He's doing the same in the article I mentioned in the text over Hilary Swank. He really knows what he wants... And he'd never do anything close to this cast list =)

I like Laura Linney, but 47 seems a bit old for Jaina.

Granted I am really bad guessing ages, but in terms of her looks I wouldn't say she looks as old as 47, so she could get away with it. And Jaina was born before the First War, so she's at least 31!

I know she may be just a little too old for the part, but I think Kate Beckinsale would be perfect for Jaina. She is about 100x sexier than Scarlett anyways. :D

Even though Arthas may not be in the film, I think either David Wenham or Alexander Skarsgård would be perfect.

Brandon Routh as Arthas... he kinda looks like him, he kinda sounds like him and he's been a fan of the Warcraft series since Orcs and Humans... he better have some role in them...

I want to see the movie revolve around when Stormwind was taken by the old horde. That is because I think the fight between Lothar and Doomhammer with the fight between him and Turalyon in super awesome special effects. Gerard Butler as Lord Lothar. Natalie Portman as Alleria . Yea and Sean Connery as King Terenas Menethil II... That would be a great and epic movie. Span from the opening of the Dark portal to the last dwarf flying thru it as it closed.
