The Story of Thurug is the tale of a peon who managed to work his way up to auction fame. Dorons, the creator, didn't specify whether Thurug used any guides to help him achieve this mercantile mastery, but let's pretend he did.
This is the first video by Dorons. The Story of Thurug is a decent machinima from someone just getting started. The narrative could use a little extra drama and there were a few subtitle issues, but for someone who just learned how to make machinima, that's no big deal. A good, simple story with a decent payoff. I will say though, the slow-motion cam at times is a little much, and there is a tendency to hold on a single shot for too long, but not bad at all. I enjoyed it.
So, when I was beating those peons in the valley of trials, I was guiding them on the road to finacial sucess, rather than being a sadistic tool of the foreman. I now feel a bit better about myself
In the literary world, we caution people when they write, not to tell us about the character too long, but rather let the character tell us who he is by his actions, words, and how other characters perceive or interact with our character. I feel like this video suffers from that same flaw -- it tells too much of the story, rather than letting the video making/images tell the story for him.
I give him props for a decent story premise and for trying something new (as I have no idea how to make these type of videos) but it falls flat of delivering what I imagine the creator planned to create.
