WAIT. Wait, wait, wait, wait... This does not explain, at all, how come it went from "druids who shapeshifted and kinda got carried away" to "get bitten and turn into a werewolf lol".. What, just suddenly a curse, unexplained and undiscussed.. just because werewolves are 'cool'?What are the limits to this curse? Who would it change? Who wouldn't it change? Who can carry it on? Are all the worgen we've seen elves or humans? Would a bitten gnome suddenly become 4 times its original size? Would a tauren shrink down and become smaller? What about dragons or demons or magnataur or even dogs? Why would it effect elves, who were once trolls, but not trolls? If it DOES effect trolls, why are there no worgen with troll fangs? Trolls have had druids for a considerable time, so why don't they mention worgen? If it's only elves/trolls and humans, why? Or, again, is it just because werewolves=awesome, logical story-lines be damned?

They used the Scythe to change forms and that magic can be passed through fluid exchange such as a bite (my guess).Who wouldn't it change? I doubt it affects non-humanoids. Otherwise, it's probably fairly open.Worgen we have seen are either elves or humans. It started with the elves so the older ones are predominantly elven while the playable race is completely human. I don't recall worgen size being predetermined. I imagine those infected would just change shape to roughly the same size.Who said it would not affect trolls? Why WOULD there be worgen with Troll tusks? Troll druids are very, very recent. In the troll starting area, the druid trainer admits that the druid thing is new to her and that trolls have only been druids for a couple years. The story in the retaking of the Echo Isles was given to gain more immediate acceptance and entice young trolls to train to be druids. (Personally, I hate that reasoning. Trolls believe in loas and many have animal forms just like Ancients the night elves worship and transform into, the whole Cenarion Circle annoys me now. /rant)This whole series was created because the past was so vague that most felt it was in fact purely because werewolves = awesome. It's filling in a very vague story that I think was originally a bit different, but has been notoriously vague enough to accept this as canon (and finally, not a complete lorelol).

Oh and I haven't read the comics, so this is based on this article, some of the linked articles, and personal guess. If I'm wrong, let me know.

Patience -- the rest will be explained next week in part two. Promise!

"Why would it effect elves, who were once trolls, but not trolls?"Uh...Blizzard has not said whether or not the elves are related to trolls. The trolls evolving into elves is speculation at best.
