The Daily Quest: Gold, mountains of it
I don't know what's stranger about Disney's Pocahontas -- the fact that they decided to make a fictional cartoon movie out of something that actually took place in history, or the fact that David Ogden Stiers not only voices two characters in the film but actually performs a duet with himself as two different characters. ... But then, we're talking about the same film company that stomped all over Greek mythology with Hercules, so I guess I shouldn't really find it that odd, should I?
Speaking of gold -- mountains of it -- today, we've got a very different Daily Quest full of blogs with all kinds of gold-making tips, tricks and insights:
- Auction House Addict discusses ways of making gold through the time-honored art of cooking.
- Power Word: Gold fills us in on a profitable skinning route and the virtues of the Potion of Treasure Finding.
- Break the Bank points out why farming might actually be a bad idea when trying to turn a profit.

Sometimes I forget Grizzly Hills is a zone...

@ Blancester
Like how you forget that Oil Ocean in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is coming up and then you see the title for it and go 'Oh! God I forgot about this one! I hate this place!'

You can't put all the blame on Disney. Everyone's been stomping on all sorts of mythology for years before they made the Hercules movie.
You study a little children's literature and you start to realize that no a single fairy tale or myth is at all like what it was when it was first written. Craziness!

In the first 20 seconds, he says "mere trinkets". Guess who doesn't play WoW?

Because Disney needs the happy ending and her real history is more grim.

Hercules is a way more entertaining movie if you pretend that all the places/people/gods/etc. in the setting are completely different, just named after the relevant Greek mythological elements.

The Lion King was based off of real events. (Tribes in Africa, not cats, but still real.)

Hamlet was a real event?

So, by extension, Kimba the White Lion was all true?
Or are there actually singing Hyenas who goose-step... great, gonna have nightmares about Nazi Hyenas tonight

Stomped all over? You mean totally radified?
Gwen May 10th 2011 1:28AM
Because Charles Emerson Winchester III needs a reason to sing to himself.

Considering what Blizzard does with all mythologies they've used in Wow, complaining about Hercules seems silly. Besides, taking liberties with mythology is in a completely different ball park than turning real life history into a fantasy.

Disney tweaks and changes stories for their films regardless of their source material. That's Hollywood folks!

As I've come to understand it, Disney got it right. It is history that is mistaken.

The story that we know as "Pocahontas" never really happened. John Smith was a notorious liar who would return from every single trip he went on with a grand story about how some local woman fell in love with him and then saved him from certain death. While the characters were obviously real people, and Pocahontas was certainly a real person, the story as most people know it is about as close to the truth as Sleeping Beauty.
