The Queue: Missed a spot

I was playing my little goblin warlock yesterday and came across some too-solid lines in the middle of Stonetalon Mountains. Look close and you can see the discoloration; it kind of looks like Blizzard missed a spot.
Maybe not, though. A neat picture, nonetheless.
Hal asked:
So what other gray items are fun to hand off to friends/suckers/unsuspecting guildies?
I always liked sending some Roasted Chicken to our resident boomkin. But a lot of others in the Queue's comments yesterday had some great ideas. Here's some of what they said:
- A friend used to always send goldfish from the Dalaran fountain to guildmates as birthday presents. -- Rapskallion
- Recently I grinded on deer in Felwood just so I could collect piles of Blood-Engorged Ticks. -- Randolyn
- Large Slimy Bone. I have been gift wrapping these to friends for years. Nuf said. -- Chaver
- An Antique Gun
- Large Bear Bone
- Ripped Orge Loincloth
- Empty Barrel
- Soggy Handkerchief
- Broken I.W.I.N. Button
- Goblin Gentleman's Magazine (Look at the picture of this one on Wowhead; it's safe for work.)
- Rotting Bear Carcass
- Shark Bait
- An Exotic Cookbook
Does mana exist in lore? And also what is mana exactly?
Mana is the energy that people attuned to such things draw upon to cast spells. It's a pretty common fantasy subject and has been around for approximately ever. In WoW, I think one could argue that mana exists as the latent energies given off by the ley lines that cross Azeroth. A little bit is tapped into each time you use a spell.
Jason asked:
Does blizzard plan on doing anything in regards to learning the Inscription recipes that require Books of Glyph Mastery? It's absurd to think that I have to spend 500g apiece (current AH price) x 50 to learn them all now that they are so scarce.
There's been nothing from Blizzard on the subject yet, but you are correct, it's pretty absurd. I'd bet that Blizzard will be fixing this problem soon.

You meant the textures.

Go look at the paving stones between the BE starting one an Silvermoon. They are even more oddly shaped...

It's just moss.

That's nuthin.. there's a painfully obvious discolored-line border in the path between Searing Gorge and Badlands. I remember seeing it when I was leveling and thought it was odd that Blizz would miss such a glaring visual miscue.

I think it looks like a snowman...

What is the ''appropiate''number of times you an recycle a boss character before its classified as lazy?
Grovinofdarkhour May 12th 2011 11:20AM
I don't know, but my money's on an encounter with the reincarnated remains of Malygos sometime before the big Deathwing fight.
I mean... they put him in something nobody wanted to do, and didn't have to do to get a key for somewhere else, so a lot of people never did EoE at all. He was a freakin' Aspect, for crying out loud.

I rather understand the redoing of bosses, necromancy IS a big part of WoW of course.
loop_not_defined May 12th 2011 1:57PM
Is it lazy? You ought to ask...well, pretty much every fantasy writer, ever.

Dear Queue:
How on Earth does one change one's image on this site?
HappyTreeDance May 12th 2011 11:19AM
I went to the main site (joystiq.com) and did it there. From there you can sign in and go to your profile. There's an option to change your picture there.
MattKrotzer May 12th 2011 11:22AM
It's challenging. I created an entirely new Joystiq account, picked my image, and then started posting here. A few posts in, it showed up.
However, I've tried to change my picture, with no such luck.
I'm hoping that if we ever see a new comments system, this will be one of the fixes that comes with it.

Still waiting for my pic to show up. Just scanned my Worgen Main: Clawnanji in all her glory. hehe

I've been trying every suggestion ever made in response to that question on here, and I'm still waiting. It's been a few years. But maybe it will like you better than me?
Ice May 12th 2011 1:27PM
I see that you have changed the picture.
If you tell me how did you do it and I get it working I will promise to upvote each of your comment for month.
jfofla May 12th 2011 2:18PM
I have no idea how you change it.
I have tried and tried.
I have tried every image format known to man.
I have tried every hint to what the image size should be.
I have tried on a Mac.
I have tried on a PC.
Idaelus May 12th 2011 3:08PM
I seem to recall I did it at the joystiq mother site, but it seems to not work now.
However, you may gaze upon the glory that is a starfish with a board nailed to his forehead.
:D

Changing your image is not an easy thing to do. It requires patience on your part, and a willingness on the part of others to give you a second chance.
I think that the most important thing we can learn from this is that, just because you are anonymous, you should still be respectful of your fellow posters because you may eventually want to be part of the online community. Further, we could all learn to be a little patient with people. We don't know them, or what kind of day they are having, or what might be going on in their lives that may have caused them to make a bad post. Why not give people the benefit of the doubt. They may turn out to be really cool people that were just having a bad day.
Or, you could always follow some of the tips that other people posted, but would that really help you grow, as a person? ; )
nieboh May 12th 2011 5:43PM
Every time someone asks this, the usual tips are given. I go and follow the tips. They never work.
How to change your avatar image:
For some time in the near future, write out the date and time* in the format yy/mm/dd/hh/mm/ss
Using a simple cipher where 01=a, 02=b,..., 26=6 see if the date and time form a meaningful** word or phrase.
If it doesn't, choose a new time so that it does.
Once you have your meaningful word or phrase, wait until that moment to hit "upload" on the joystiq web page.
If the phase of the moon is just right, you will be rewarded with the avatar of your choice.
*The date must use the Julian Calendar, while the time must be adjusted according to 6:00 AM corresponding to sunrise as observed from the Dionysiou Monestary on Mount Athos.
**The language used for the meaningful word or phrase is still a matter of debate. While most favor Catalan, a small but fervent faction contend Romani is correct.
