Murloc is fairly quick movie with a single punchline. Of course, movies like this are difficult to talk about, because it would be too easy to reveal spoilers.
The quality of Murloc is pretty amazing, though. This animation was created by Frederik Lindbom. I was truly impressed by the level of detail and textures put into this movie. You don't see this kind of high-end animation very often, and it's nice to see a murloc "come to life" this way. Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! Have suggestions for machinima we ought to feature? Toss us an email at moviewatch@wowinsider.com.
This person/team (still not sure about that) just made something MARVELOUS- pointless, excellent, perfect, delicious little tidbits from your universe!
That was really well made, well put, and I could see little minute-long videos like this REALLY putting some OOMPH back into WoW's world.
You don't need to tell the WHOLE story in cinematic animations- just tiny, key portions, about a minute long. I have whole libraries of 'what the heck was going on in there?" going on in my head now!
It's the rough equivalent of some of the older WoW cinematics, you know- where the mage turns a Tauren into a sheep, a warlock waves his hand and burns up the murlocs, etc. Spiritual successor!
Also, you've somehow caught the spirit of WoW art in this- I felt like THIS is what WoW could/would/should look like with a full graphical update (not happening, but the sentiment is in me)- it just looks like it would fit right in!
according to the authors' comments, there's two people who worked on the video, ha. One already has a job with http://www.dneg.com/ and is working on a disney movie actually. The other has a job with http://thesite.dice.se/ and is working on Battlefield 3.
Apparantly the fish was trapped. A Murloc came, tapped a fish, got turned into a fish. Another Murloc came, tapped that fish, got turned into another fish. If you look there are several fish under them. Whoever cast the spell must not have liked Murlocs.

That was freaking awesome! I had to watch it about 5 more times to really see what the heck happened.
I'd love to know *why* the murloc was turned into a fish, and who the mysterious camper is, but it's really well done

Thanks for the spoiler! Now you ruined the minute-long movie for me.

You must do more. Very nicely done.

You defiantly need to watch this full screen in HD to understand what is going on.
John May 12th 2011 2:48PM
I defy you to make me watch it!
:)

I have to say I did really enjoy that.

I think the only adventure that murloc is going to have next is in the frying pan.
jrockzmyv382 May 12th 2011 1:01PM
My favorite part is EASILY when he smacks his head onto the log... sorta reminds me of a puppy but... more reptilian.
Dreyja May 12th 2011 3:30PM
I know right! I was all... Dawwhhh... But then I think murlocs are pretty cute.
quasarsglow May 12th 2011 1:42PM
Man, that method of getting dinner is easier than shooting fish in a barrel.
So is that a hunter trap or a wizard trap?
blancester May 12th 2011 3:45PM
Gnomish magic at its best!
Ominous May 12th 2011 1:44PM
As others have typed, I'd love to have seen more. That's the biggest compliment anyone can pay it, I suppose.
Well done.
KataSamoes May 12th 2011 2:28PM
That was cute! In a good sense, I mean. I would love to see more like this, that was pretty awesome.
