The
Avengers of Hyjal is the new raid reputation being introduced with
patch 4.2 for raiders daring enough to enter the Firelands and do battle with Ragnaros' minions. Much like the
Ashen Verdict, players will be able to gain rewards with the Avengers as they progress up the reputation tiers. At exalted, ilevel 391 rings will become available in a variety of styles. So far, these rings are available on the PTR:
Blizzard has said that the Avengers of Hyjal faction will work differently from the Ashen Verdict, however, in that it does not want players farming the trash in the Firelands for reputation. Rather, it looks like we will get a system like the
Brood of Nozdormu or
Hydraxian Waterlords, where after a certain reputation level, the only way to increase your standing with the faction is to kill bosses.
The news is already rolling out for the upcoming WoW Patch 4.2! Preview the new Firelands raid, marvel at the new legendary staff, and get the inside scoop on new quest hubs -- plus new Tier 12 armor!

The lack of a tanking ring makes me a little sad.

Agreed. They'd better not make this same mistake again. >.

http://ptr.wowhead.com/item=70934 appears to be the requested tanking ring from this faction.
Omegan01 May 13th 2011 8:20PM
Crisis averted. Mazca, you are hereby awarded one interwebs.

And I just got rid of almost all my Hit, too!
Sleutel May 13th 2011 8:52PM
Dodge/Hit? Gross. Hopefully those stats will look better by the time we're in 4.2 gear, but...

A guildie is just finishing up Hydraxian Waterlords (this week or next). She's going to be piiiiiiiiiiisssssseed at the idea of another faction working the same way.
The lack of an obvious tanking ring is fairly odd, but it's probably just not in the files yet.

I'm sure it'll be more than the paltry 100 rep per kill that is horrible grind of Hydraxian Waterlords. I'd expect it the rep per boss kill given previous expansions to between 350-500 rep.

If ypu go to wowhead or mmochamp, a couple days ago they mined some rep rewards. I think it was 3 o 4 items. All tanking based. We arefar from seeing all the available items from this faction.

More Mastery.
Wonderful.
*cries Holy Pally Tears*

The real question is if you'll get a title at Exalted like you did with the Verdict. "CapnAmerica of the Avengers", anyone? Prot pally, of course.
MusedMoose May 13th 2011 8:34PM
I was thinking the same thing. I really need to level a paladin with a Thor-based name now... And I say 'paladin' because of their fondness for giant hammers. ^_^
Jordan May 14th 2011 3:21AM
I do hate to burst your bubble, but the "God of Thunder" being rep'd by a swinger of the light?
Enhancement Shaman: Thor is our Homeboy.
MusedMoose May 14th 2011 7:58AM
@ Jordan: I see your point, and I was thinking of shaman as well, since they've definitely got lightning covered. ^_^ But I was thinking of how to make a character who most closely resembles Thor (the Marvel version, at least), and for that you'd have to make a human.
Besides, if Thor had a WoW class, I think he'd be a warrior or paladin, not a shaman. But that's just me. And yes, I do think about this way too much.

Not another faction with stupid restrictions on when we're allowed to gain reputation. Were the previous twenty or so not proof enough that we've moved on from the days of "lol it'd be awesome if these centaur reps cap out at honoured unless the player saves a quest"?
Honestly. Let people do their trash runs if they want--they're not going to want to get locked to pugs by killing bosses and miss out on guild runs as a result. Unless we aren't allowed to get to Exalted without killing Ragnaros or something else equally stupid, it's not going to make much difference to those who work out the best way of farming said rep.
GhostWhoWalks May 13th 2011 8:49PM
Here's hoping the vendor for these rewards is a Human Warrior carrying a shield named Captain Roger Stevens.

Funny fact: Actually watching the avenger on TV...

"where after a certain reputation level, the only way to increase your standing with the faction is to kill bosses.
"
It's part of Blizzard's "if you and your guild aren't doing a lot of raids, then we don't want your money. Go play Rift until TOR or Titan ship" policy
MusedMoose May 13th 2011 9:57PM
Clearly Blizzard doesn't care about people who don't raid. It's not like they're putting in a new area with 60+ daily quests and tons of rewards and an ongoing storyline with a new mount at the end for whoever puts in the work.
...oh, wait.
kensei May 14th 2011 2:44AM
Yep. Isn't the saying "raid or die?"
