The Daily Quest: Tiers of joy
WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative, and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere.
Representing probably the most puzzling choice of literature to turn into an animated feature is Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame, based on the novel by Victor "Everyone dies or is miserable in the end" Hugo. Despite the attempt to turn a Hugo novel into a rollicking romp, I did love the music and imagery from the film, and Frollo remains one of the most evil Disney villains to date. I mean, he didn't even really hesitate -- he just went to go chuck a baby in a well because it was ugly. Brr.
Moving on! Though Disney's adaptation of Hugo's work nearly made me cry tears of how-could-you, today we've got some posts regarding tiers of a very different kind -- tier 12, the next tier of armor available in patch 4.2.
Is there a story out there we ought to link or a blog we should be following? Just leave us a comment, and you may see it here tomorrow! Be sure to check out our WoW Resources Guide for more WoW-related sites.

"...one of the most evil Disney villains to date... Disney's adaptation of Hugo's work nearly made me cry tears of how-could-you..."
How could they? Easily. You forget, no one is more evil than Disney.
Fear the mouse...

I love Hunchback, Frollo is a wonderful dark and complex character for a "childrens" cartoon. And Hellfire is an amazing song.
RIP Tony Jay

Hunchback is horribly underrated. It's a beautiful film with some of Disney's best animation (the rooftop sequence during "Out There" is particularly breathtaking).

Thank you for the plug, Anne. Please have a great weekend! :)

T12 Pally looks...ugly.
I mean, beyond ugly. This speeds past ugly, careens through the traffic of "you're joking, right?" and smashes head-on into the wall of "ARE YOU *EFFIN'* KIDDIN' ME?!?!"
Yuck, Blizz. Just...yuck. If there was ever an impetus to get into raiding just to get the gear past this and get out of that awful pally tier set, that was it.

Nobody has mentioned that the voice actor for Frollo was the late Tony Jay... the man who provided the voice overs for your entry into every character you made in WoW.
Iirdan May 13th 2011 7:30PM
Actually, that isn't Jay. That's Earl Boen. Jay died in 2006, a death which is noted in the second comment.
Ametrine May 13th 2011 8:02PM
Actually, Jay did the original vanilla-WoW voiceovers... all the expansion ones were Boen.

All I can reply to that is: Megabyte from Reboot. One of the most BAMF Villans I've seen on TV.

Really liked Hunchback, one of my childhood favorites, along with Lion King and Aladdin. Somehow Disney lost a lot when they went over to the fully computer animated movies. Or it might just be the pink-tinted glasses again.

Oh, I had always thought it was Tony Jay... thanks for the info.

Got chills watching that video...

I, too, got chills watching that clip. It's been many years since I saw the movie and many years since I last saw the stage adaptation at Disney-MGM Studios at Walt Disney World Resort. The clip reminded me how much I loved this Disney film. The stage version at the theme park was so incredible also that I must have watched it over a dozen times in person.

Love that song, Clopin has an epic vocal range, singing it as a woman is fun, especially those last few "bells, bells, bells of Notre Dame!" right at the end. I love the music pattern, it's a fabulous movie, I must rent it again.

That video is 10 kinds of awesome. Thanks for displaying it. I bought it on VHS years ago, I think it's time to get the DVD.

I remember that movie, it was a good one. Not "traditional" Disney, but GOOD Disney - like The Emperor's New Groove!
New blog post up at Corath's Blog (http://corath.wordpress.com): all about going through Outland and Northrend again, but taking a deeper look into how they stand out with the rest of the world changing.

Enjoy!
