@ Shade's wall of text a few comments above me - this should be put on the official forums as a suggestion to devs as either option is exactly the right way to "nerf" spellsteal.

Also, as someone else said, the set bonus definitely needs more of a firey theme. The mirror images should be all molten and badass, either that or at least have some sort of constant aura around them, like this http://www.wowhead.com/spell=17293
