New reward for collecting 150 companion pets: Nuts

Other pet collecting achievements have also been given rewards. Both Petting Zoo and Menagerie, the achievements for collecting 100 and 125 companion pets respectively, will grant the player pet biscuits. We have no idea how many uses these pet biscuits have, but it appears they will work the same as the WoW TCG's Papa Hummel's Old Fashioned Pet Biscuits.
Go forth and collect, companion pet enthusiasts. Nuts will be waiting for you in patch 4.2.
The news is already rolling out for the upcoming WoW Patch 4.2! Preview the new Firelands raid, marvel at the new legendary staff, and get the inside scoop on new quest hubs -- plus new Tier 12 armor!Filed under: Achievements, Cataclysm

Did WoW Insider run a How-to on collecting pets in the past? If so, anyone have a link to it?

warcraftpets.com is perfect

SCRAT!!! would love to have him as a pet...

While I agree, they'll probably just use the normal squirrel skin they have in the game already.
I'm just hoping that if Blizz ever adds in any more dog pets, that at least one of them will be coded to be distracted by "squirrel!"

I said it before. I'll say it again.
It's the Firelands. It had better be a squirrel that's *on fire*.
Because that would be awesome.
Also, good with BBQ sauce.

Or one of those delightful squirrels in the zone that you need to pick up, while it frantically runs around in all directions and is roughly the size of a pixel.
What a fun quest that was.
(yes I ended up making a bloody macro for it in the end)

Logged into the PTR and learned the pet. Looks like a regular squirrel model, except he chuck acorns at people.
And the biscuits are currently a single use item.

I would rather see a squirl with armor/weapons equipped

GOD i want a sabretoothed squirrel and an acorn I can throw for him to 'fetch'. Was the best thing about Ice Age (no matter which one)!!!!

While the pet biscuits are a neat reward, there are a lot of unused pet assets in the game that could have been used instead. If they want to have the pet biscuit return, at 100 we could have an unlimited use item that gives the same effect. Enough people will get that. 125 should be this new "Nuts" guy and 150 should be the 'Celestial Dragon' reskin of the Spirit of Competition.
150 is a fairly big accomplishment that requires a lot of in-game work or the investment of real money. A squirrel doesn't really scream "I worked my butt off for these pets!" A glowy, sparkling dragon on the other hand...

Stinker and the little fawn were great rewards with unique models, I'm confident Nuts will be more than a recolored mechanical squirrel.

If you exclude promotional pets (i.e. collector's edition or blizzcon pets), TCG pets, blizz store pets (and the core hound because not everyone can get an authenticator for free), and pets that are no longer obtainable there are currently 143 pets in the game (according to the pet collection data on wowhead profiler). I assume 4.2 will add several, but currently it's pretty improbable that someone would be able to get 150 pets without spending money on them in some way.
Skarn May 14th 2011 1:36PM
Yep, I was looking at the same thing. 150 mini-pets is a difficult feat!
Elmo May 14th 2011 3:41PM
If those have charges I guarantee you I will use them once and then keep them in my bank not to waste them =/
DarkSpade May 14th 2011 6:42PM
Neirin, there are over 170 pets in game right now (a few are region restricted). My paladin is currently at 144 with 30 others still available on my wanted list.
Purples are fun for an expansion, but pets and mounts are forever. :)
Maribel May 17th 2011 5:03PM
My main has 135 pets right now, and the remaining fifteen are all obtainable without shelling out real money. I've only purchased three pets - two of the charity pets and one Li'l Rag. And I refuse to ever buy the cockroach.
So it can be done.
jaypea May 14th 2011 12:20PM
You're gonna love my nuts
hjunk May 14th 2011 12:22PM
I wonder if it's intended to be a poker reference i.e. "You've got the nuts" (the best possible hand)
Vaeku May 14th 2011 12:57PM
How on Azeroth did you come to that conclusion? Nothing in the article even remotely suggests anything related to poker...
Sunaseni May 14th 2011 12:23PM
I'm still disappointed the achievement for 150 isn't named "Gotta Catch 'Em All!".
