Wulf asked:
How would one go about finding a guild that has a significant contingent that attends BlizzCon every year?
In general, I've found the most likely guilds to attend BlizzCon in large numbers have been together for a long time, have a dedicated core, and are made up of responsible adults (and young adults) with a means to save for the expense of BlizzCon or who have disposable income.
So the best way to find a guild like that is to just join a well-established guild and roll the dice. No way to know, really. (Asking might be a little odd -- "Hi, I'm apping ... Do you guys go to BlizzCon? I want to meet you all IRL," could rank high on the stalk-o-meter.)
Scott asked:
I've heard some folks like to install the WoW client on a large USB flash drive for portability. But I have to wonder if it would also mean faster load times or performance than running off a standard internal hard drive. Any thoughts or tips?
The load times are slower, and thus the performance does suffer when running off a USB drive. I did it once, and I wouldn't recommend it at all. If anything, do the opposite and put WoW on a solid state drive -- it just screams.
Coconutpete asked:
With the new tier of gear coming, should I be holding on to all my points so I can purchase as soon as the patch drops or are they going to be reset?
Remember that valor points will become justice points. You can save up justice points to purchase the current valor gear, but there's no way to stockpile valor points.
Shoryl asked:
I've noticed recently that at the end of each random dungeon, my low level healer gets a nice fat chunk of xp. Is this part of the Call to Arms thing, something else stealthily released in 4.1, or something I just didn't notice until after 4.1 dropped?
Non-max-level random dungeons always have award XP for running them, no matter what role you play -- nothing to do with Call to Arms.
Taedran asked:
Do you guys still hire columnists? If so, who would I contact if I were interested?
We may be hiring some specific columnists in the next few days. Keep your eyes out, but no promises. All the Breakfast Topics are done through our Seed program, and you'll want to watch for a post announcing our callout for those. They come every few months.

In a place where karate and community theater collide... anything is possible.

I'm just gonna need to stop you there for a second, because when you're saying "boy's soul," it sounds like you're saying "boy's hole"...

The eye makeup on the man in black just reminded me of the main guy in the "It's OK to be gay" music video.

So all Valor point vendor gear will be purchasable with Justice points? This includes tier 11 pieces? Do you think they will continue having tier 11 shoulder and chest slot require a token from a boss or go straight to points? Hows that novel you been workin on, coming along now?
Samutz May 17th 2011 11:13AM
Tokens will probably still be required. You still need old tokens for old Wrath gear.
John May 17th 2011 11:18AM
It will be interesting after 4.3 when you see people with iLevel 385+ gear except for iLevel 346 helms and shoulders.
Wolfshanze May 17th 2011 11:35AM
This very question about 4.2 and T11 shoulder/helm items requireing or not requireing tokens to purchase once on the JP vendor has been asked multiple times in the que and never addressed by WoW Insider.
It would be REALLY NICE if WoW Insider could give us some knowledgeable info on this subject.
Fawatam May 17th 2011 11:49AM
@Wolfshanze
Actually it has been answered several times. We don't know. Blizzard has not given any information on what will happen with current tier gear prices in future patches.
Maybe you are unaware, but the writers at Wow Insider do not work for Blizzard, and have no magical insights or information on what Blizzard may or may not do in the future. They can speculate sure, but that's nothing more than a guess. The writers have also said ad nauseum, that if a question goes unanswered, it's either because it was answered previously, or they simply don't know (and usually have stated such).
Wolfshanze May 17th 2011 12:18PM
Ah come on that's harsh... downrated for asking an honest question... I don't think I was out-of-line or anything... If it has been answered many times, I've never seen it answered... it's entirely possible i've missed it to be sure, I don't visit the site 24/7, but I do come often and many people are asking this exact same question so clearly if it's been answered, it's not well known to everyone. Lighten up with the downrates you quick downraters you... it was a sincere request! :-)
This very same question is being asked by multiple people in this Queue segment.
Eli May 17th 2011 12:33PM
@Wolf
If you acknowledge that you aren't 100% up-to-date on WowInsider news, then don't claim to know that they haven't answered a specific question.
matticus May 17th 2011 12:33PM
353 Shoulders (helms too?) are offered through ZA/ZG, at least for several specs. I would be surprised if this didn't continue to be the case for a lot of people.
And how many Paladin/Warrior tanks did you see in tier 10 running around with 232-251 gear except a ilvl 200 Shield?
Yes I still hate you, Splintered Door of the Citadel.
Sunaseni May 17th 2011 12:56PM
Wolf: You know how they say that there are no stupid questions? That's a lie, and yours is one. What makes you think, that even if an employee at Blizzard did work on WoWInsider, that they'll be able to tell details before Blizzard lets them? Try thinking your question through before asking.
Wolfshanze May 17th 2011 1:28PM
Read both my comments... then read the replies... replies like Eli and Sunaseni mean-spirited, insulting and downright unfriendly.
I apologize I do not know every post of every que of every day...I also apologize for using the term "never" which apparently gets everything I said downrated and repeated insulting comments, bad attitudes and further downrates for one word casually used in a "so far as I ever saw" genuinly sincere posted comment.
I'm a retired vet, I come here to try and learn more about the game I love, and quite frankly, people like Eli and Sunaseni and apparently all the other people downvoting honest questions that were in no-way meant to insult anybody really turns me off to what I thought was a friendly site.
Go ahead, down vote away if you think its funny to silence strangers with honest questions. I thought this was a friendly site, but you can insult me all you want, I don't think that improves the thread when people ask honest questions.
Mugutu May 17th 2011 4:54PM
@wolf
Maybe if you weren't a dick in your first post, accusing The Queue of ignoring the question, no one would be mean to you.
LynMars May 17th 2011 1:47PM
@Wolfshanze: Do NOT play the retired vet card, that's just jerkish. You're not the only one in the world. Do I cry about being a mildly disabled vet when people point out my errors? No, because it's entirely unrelated and irrelevant to saying something without thinking or making assumptions about the writers and the work they do on this site.
You made an assumption, worded it poorly, and yes, it's likely to get downrated just like a lot of others that are repetitive or worded poorly, partly as a way to warn others that "this type of question isn't useful"
This site is mostly friendly, but it's also got a very large and diverse reader base. Not everyone is going to be sunshine and roses, and returning jerk behavior with self-righteous jerk behavior doesn't help and only makes you look like a whiner.
Way to go for being That Guy my current Sergeant roommate warns his Joes to not be.
IDes May 17th 2011 2:01PM
This was a friendlier site, but like most everything it sometimes gets hijacked by snobbishness. Let's all keep in mind that this a fan site for all and show respect to all honest questioner's.

Wolf if it makes you feel any better, I read more downvoted comments than upvoted.
Skarn May 17th 2011 3:35PM
Though there has been no official statement, I think Samutz is correct and head/shoulers pieces will still require the tier tokens. This helps keep the soon-to-be-old content somewhat more interesting/relevant/appealing, though by no means "required." (Requiring completion of BoT/BwD/ToFW to get Dragonwrath is smart, for the same reason.) It also helps the tier shoulders/helm to feel at least a liiiitle more special since you actually HAVE to raid and kill end-bosses to get them.
Don't want to or can't get a group to run the "old" instances? That's ok, if you are a good player and otherwise well geared then you will do fine in Firelands and beyond. PuGs for these instances will likely pick up once they are no longer the focus of guilds and guild raiders aren't automatically locked to them each week.
