I think it's a great idea-- I'm not sure if i was couched to use my rigt hand in school (at least I don't recall it) but I'm ambidextrous and I see both advantages and a market for the mouse

at the moment I use a naga and contrary to what people say, I use all buttons and if there was another 2 or 3 for your ring fingers, most likely I would be using them as well
