Honestly Basil, I dont think we'll get epic gems this patch. Yes, in Wrath we got them in the second content patch(3.2), but what was in that patch? The second batch of new raid content(ToC), and I think this is when epic gems will come out.I don't think we will get epic gems until the raid AFTER the Firelands is released which, if the rumors are true, will be the War of the Ancients raid.

3.2 was Ulduar. Epics gems werent introduced yet.

We used to get raids in every major patch during WOTLKUlduar=3.1TOC+epic gems=3.2

I don't think we'll be getting epic gems just yet. Even though this is patch 4.2 and some people are saying we got epic cuts in 3.2 I don't think you can really consider the two things the same way. Blizzard is working on creating more frequent patches for content, instead of so many "massive" patches. As a result I don't think we'll see it at the beginning of patch 4.2 -- but we might see it near the end of this forthcoming raiding tier as part of one of their "mini" but more "Frequent" patches.
