Which patch is that, exactly? 4.2 is closest, but before either of these holidays goes live we could be playing 4.3. Plus the Q&A only said that the orbs would be "unbound in a future patch", so did I miss another, more specific announcement?

They NEVER said what patch the orbs were going unbound in. Unless you have some insider info...
