The Queue: I'm up late tonight

I've been up late tonight, working on a coding project. Normally I'm sound asleep by now (or watching It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia on my iPad), but instead, here I am, writing The Queue.
Why?
Because I love you, WoW Insider.
Steve asked:
Is anyone else's Gatherer addon mysteriously not working as of 4.1? I've updated the addon but it still says "Out of Date" in my addon list. Is there an alternative to Gatherer I should be using?
Nope, just click the "Enable out of date addons" box in the addon window at your character select screen, and you'll be golden. Even though some addons are out of date according to WoW, they still work just fine. It's still a good idea to update them, though, at each major patch (the upcoming patch 4.2, for example).
Woodbossii asked:
Was wondering if the Queue or anyone else has a good suggestion on a left-handed mouse. And just in case you ask, "No I will not become a righty for gaming!"
You want to look for a symmetrical mouse. Pretty much anything by Razer will fit your lefty needs.
Ejunk commented:
That's the grossest queue header photo ever.
Bynde correctly replied: "Then you must have missed the 'sea mouse' photo."
Gen Man asked:
Is Blizzard ever going to implement a sort of Style slot in WoW ala DC Universe Online? For those who don't know, its basically where you have the actual piece of gear equipped but you can apply another piece of gear's model to it. For example, say in TBC you acquired the Warglaive of Azzinoth. Now obviously its an inferior weapon now but that model is hot. With the Style slot you can wear a suitable weapon but use the Warglaive model.
I really really really wish Blizzard would do this, but so far all it's ever said are the typical lines of newspeak that tell us nothing about its internal priorities or when/if we'll ever see it. I'm not holding my breath.
And honestly, you guys -- three pages of comments about hunters and soda? Hmph.

Wrap your minds around this. Hunter soda.
Task May 19th 2011 11:10AM
"Brought to you by the Warcraft Hunters Union. Always ready to shoot their guns with a pint of stout lager in the other hand."
I will buy this soda for the summer
Vael May 19th 2011 11:31AM
I hear it's best taken with shots. *snicker*
techvoodooguy May 19th 2011 11:48AM
@Vael: Nonsense! Taking shots with an alcoholic soda is a wery bad idea.
Natsumi May 19th 2011 12:41PM
Is it made with real Hunters? Cause I would totally buy it if it was!
Just think of how many flavors there would be:
Orc - It'd be green and apple-like
Tauren - Obviously steak flavored (yum!)
Troll - will be popular with the potheads :p
Forsaken - all I can picture here is a super-caffeinated drink that tastes like old gym socks
Blood Elf - Thinking Cosmopolitan-ish, definitely pink and sparkly
Goblin - Kaja-cola flavored ;)
Night Elf - green tea?
Dwarf - beer flavored (or root beer, whatever)
Human - soylent green style
Squidgoat - the Japanese have some REALLY messed up flavors
Worgen - Worcestershire flavored! comes with free top hat

They already have Hunter Soda. It's called Ale. Drink it by the pint!
cansylove May 19th 2011 3:16PM
"Is it made with real hunters?"
Now I know why gnomes aren't hunters.
Aspirisis May 19th 2011 4:20PM
I would assume the Worgen soda would be Alpo flavored. Also, rather than Soylent Green, why don't we go with Grey Goose Martini, straight up w/ 4 olive flavored?
BloodCrow May 20th 2011 9:42AM
How has Blizzard not started marketing this? They've already paired up with Mountain Dew before.
Kaja Kola: What every growing gob... What every developing goblin needs!
Heck, Kaja Kola could be marketed to the general populace and they'd never know.

ETA on new comment system? A Letter from the Editor article in January said it was coming soon.
Saeadame May 19th 2011 11:10AM
Yeah, that was a Soon (TM), I believe.
So it could happen anytime between next week and never =P.
Quill2006 May 19th 2011 11:11AM
I'm fairly certain WoW Insider has taken a page out of Blizzard's playbook in regards to "Soon TM."
Adam Holisky May 19th 2011 11:15AM
A lot of stuff has happened internally that has pushed back redesigns and other projects. Just Google "AOL" and be happy we're all still here talking about WoW. A lot of other sites were not as fortunate.
That being said, we're told things are getting back on track in this regard, so I'm hopeful before the end of the year. I realize that it doesn't mean much, but it's what I'm thinking, and I (and all the editors) want a new comment system as much as you guys.
How's that for some straight talk? Watch me get in trouble now. ;-)
Amaxe May 19th 2011 11:17AM
They're holding off until the Dance Studio comes out

If you make an account on the Joystiq website and stay logged in through Firefox or whatever browser you use, it is actually quite easy to leave comments. If you have not done this, then you have to do the comment confirmation via email to make sure you are human.
Yes, the comment system could still use a tweak here and there but if you create a Joystiq account, it makes it a million times easier.
Samutz May 19th 2011 12:46PM
@llcjay2003
There are many more problems than that. I actually have no problem logging in and posting.
For example, comments randomly disappearing for several minutes, then reappearing later. Or comments showing up out of order (based on their timestamps). Plus lots of other little bugs that make it frustrating to use on a regular basis.
Rylka May 19th 2011 12:46PM
@ llcjay2003 -
Much of what people are referring when they talk about problems with the comment system are the cases where you click REPLY for a given person's post, but the system sometimes turns your response into a new post at the bottom of the thread rather than a REPLY to the original. That and similar glitches are the main issue, rather than not being signed in.
Also, many folks would like to see added functionality like EDIT options.

"A lot of other sites were not as fortunate."
That would be Big Download and Download Squad I believe. Both randomly got shut down without a single explanation as to why. I loved Big Download, it was Joystiq for PC gamers. And Download Squad was the software counterpart to Engadget, I loved hearing about the latest in software news, like whatever Google's up to with Chrome today. I miss those sites, and I bet they(and maybe some other Weblogs Inc Blogs that got shut down that I didn't see) are what you alluded to in that remark. Hard to upgrade the comment system when they're busy killing their own blogs, right?
Glaras May 19th 2011 1:15PM
@Adam: Nice! I hope you *don't* get in trouble, tho...
But if I Google AOL, won't my browser implode?
Ez May 19th 2011 6:33PM
They are too busy playing PTR and RIFT!
