The argument about achievements never ends. Are they worthwhile? Are they meaningful? Do achievements say much about your skill as a player or just the time you spend playing? For better or for worse, guild levels have often been lumped into the argument as well. Guild levels come with some pretty nice perks, but those perks aren't really critical to your enjoyment of the game.
TheWarpZone has thrown its opinion into the fray with Alliance vs. Horde - Guild Levels. It's a brilliant, short piece that resoundingly states an opinion on the issue, and it states that opinion in a lighthearted, comedic way. That's often the best way to get it done!

I'm definitely Horde, and I'm definitely more like the Horde character in this video. I'll get achievements if it's convenient for me, but I'll "never" go out of my way to do them. If I'm running a Heroic and some guy mentions doing one, sure, I'll give it a try; I'd say the same thing in a mount rewarding raid.
That's another thing- the only achievements that remotely appeal to me in the former sense are the ones that have some kind of reward. In WOTLK I played a Death Knight, so when I saw the WOTLK raid Frostwyrms I wanted to get one. Makes sense, right?
Maybe I am spoiled, maybe I have been groomed to enjoy western, more instant gratification based MMO's, but so what? I play the game to have fun, and I like shinies. Some people do things for the sake of doing them; it's called intrinsic motivation. Motivation comes in all different mixes of both intrinsic and extrinsic motivation.
At the end of the day, just let your fellow man (or lady) enjoy her game the way she wants. You know, as long as it's not ganking poor, innocent newbies. Well, Blood Elves are okay, you can kill them all you like, Manlady.
Because I have to take the fun out of everything: "I spend my time doing things that actually matter, like PvP"
Players should be able to solo more guild XP and rep at level cap than they can now. There's no real-world-logical reason why guild points should only be earned in guild groups, just an artificial justification.
If WoW were closer to real life, a solo player would be able to come back from doing whatever and say "Hey guys, I just did BWD. Here's how the fights went down. Make sure to watch out for this, this, and this." The guild as a whole is better off because of the actions of one player individually. Meanwhile, the guild has a new respect for that member for that accomplishment. In other words, the actions of this one member have been transmitted to the guild, and his/her guildmates look upon him/her more favorably. Or to phrase it more succinctly, the guild has gained experience and the player has gained reputation.
Does this contribute towards the guild achievement for BWD? No, because it wasn't a guild group. So there's still a system to reward guilds for running content together.
Maybe I'm just being bitter and cynical, but the video actually seemed kind of mean-spirited to me.
"I do things that actually matter, like pvp." Because getting a guild put together and kept together long enough for people to quest, dungeon, and oh yeah, pvp up to level 25 is meaningless.
"lol, I never die." That's just straight up childish.
To me this one feels like the weakest of the A&H videos. It's not really trying to make a joke, it's just raging out. Watch the botting video or the gold-buying vid and compare them to this. I kind of wonder if this was put together after the author got fed up with some max-guild-level person sneering at him.
Getting a guild to level 25 isn't done on a lark, and it's pretty mean to try and paint all that effort by a group of people as meaningless. You might as well point the same accusation at fishing, or cooking, or pvp, or pve, or ANYTHING DONE IN A VIDEO GAME IN GENERAL.
I think the video would've been stronger if Alliance had acted like more of a jerk, or if Horde had been nicer to start off and then gotten fed-up with Alliance's snark, but neither one of those was really pulled off. Yeah, Alliance is fishing for a compliment, but when Horde responds with sarcasm it's easy to see why things get nasty.
Don't bother arguing about it. None of them are "right".
No one is right when all you do is present OPINIONS, which is all they are doing. And all that you're doing. Here's an opinion of mine, also not "right", just an opinion:
When the horde flies off on that mount with a "we're done here", all I could say was: "Yep". That was awesome. I love that mount soo much. Wish I could get it. But it requires a lot of personal skill. I'm in a guild that leveled from 1 to 25 and it practically happened just by us (mostly the others) playing the game. Nothing spectacular about it.
I guess it's too obvious to use the "more honor points" thing in a video like this. >_>
But really, when a guild is totally behind the leveling process, it's a lot of fun and you really do feel like your contributing to something big. So there's always that.
I love vids from these guys. As someone that's proudly part of a level 25 guild, I found it hilarious. Horde makes fun points, Alliance is just as much of a noob as ever... and fortunately, no giant Ban Hammer sound in this one.

I like the guild perks but I don't think there is any reason for some of them. Leveling is already easy enough.

So what is his guild level? XD
(I kind of expected him to respond with something like, Oh, we've been 25 for 3 weeks...)

And I have a level 25 guild AND the Frostwyrm. Suck it, Horde and Alliance!
