The first round of tickets for
BlizzCon 2011 is
sold out. Would-be convention-goers snagged up the tickets quickly, as predicted, and queues reached into the 12,000-15,000 range. BlizzCon tickets will go on sale once more on
Wednesday, May 25, at 7 p.m. PST (10 p.m. EST).
Here are some fun BlizzCon ticket facts:
-
Based on queue positions when tickets sold out, likely less than 4,000 total transactions were completed.
-
The WoW Insider staff all clicked to buy our tickets at nearly the exact same second. Some of us didn't get a queue. Others ended up 13,000 deep.
-
Whether or not you're getting a BlizzCon ticket today was a matter of one single second.
Did you get the number of tickets you needed? Are you ready for BlizzCon? I got my tickets, and cannot wait to see everyone in October at the annual
WoW Insider reader meetup party.

I'm pretty envious of everyone who gets to go to Blizzcon. We can't afford the tickets, much less the travel expenses. You guys better have double fun for me.
At least we have the streaming, that's alleviated some of my jealousy in the past. :-P

i went last year, and streamed previous years. for all the neat info and stuff, the streaming was better. (its a very very crowded place). blizzcon is nice for the atmosphere.
Borick May 22nd 2011 1:08PM
Live streaming is probably better. I can't understate the pungency of ten thousand randy outskirters stuffed into one convention center.
Axe couldn't axe the combination of Hot Pocket sweat and pheremones.

Just from past experience, I have bought every blizzcon ticket and I am positive being close to Blizzard helps.
I refresh the page at exactly 9:59:59AM got the "purchase ticket" button. Clicked it and was in queue under 1000. I've done this every year now, and have never been above 1000.
I live in socal. My guild mate in another state, said he did the exact same thing. He was about 7K deep in line.
We have the same internet speed, about 5mbps.

I agree with you. I live in Reno, Nevada, just across the border with California, and every year so far I've gotten tickets. My friends and I are always on the phone when we go through the ticket buying process and the ones who live farther way rarely get in a low enough queue position.
Living close to California is definitely an important key.

I live on the East Cost, and I got a pretty good spot in line (1500-ish, see ya' in Anaheim). Location definitely has a lot to do with it, but I think your F5-fu is the most important part.

Wheee! See y'all at the meet up.
Tip: you CAN change the number of tickets right before you finalize the sale - a couple guildies lost positions in queue and their chance of tickets by not knowing this.

Was very fortunate to end up at 2400 in queue. Got my ticket for the fourth year in a row. I guess I'm a fast clicker, or ridiculously lucky, or... no, I'm just lucky. I can't wait for the Wowinsider meet-up, it is always a blast.

Sorry BLIZZCON is no longer interesting to me anymore. Last year was such an incredibly lame bust there is no way I would spend even more money on the price of a ticket this year.

My wife and I thought of going a couple times. Until during a Q&A last year when it was asked: we've killed Illidan and Arthas, what's left? The question was dismissed. Problem is we both started playing to find out what happens next after Warcraft 3, and it's xpac: The Frozen Throne. For that to be missed, left us both wondering what's the point, as it was the story that got us hooked. Deathwing, in our opinion is just the stereotypical dragon you have to kill to save the world. We stick around in hopes it will go back to that story line, assuming it's not already resolved. Otherwise, that'll be why we leave.
Solitha May 22nd 2011 3:05AM
Of course the question got dismissed. They're not going to just give you a list of to-be bosses, and I for one appreciate that. For instance, it was pretty cool to see who's on the roster for Firelands.
Also, they may have a lot of ideas and hopes that don't come about. If they start listing who they want us to go after, then don't deliver those bosses on a silver platter, they end up with a bunch of upset players who regarded that "we hope" as an iron-clad promise of delivery.

If you think "Deathwing, in our opinion is just the stereotypical dragon you have to kill to save the world" then you clearly have not taken the time to look at the quests and the lore behind him and the people associated to him. There is a huge storyline there that you have missed out on. Good place to start of course is: http://www.wowpedia.org/Deathwing
There is a lot of lore before Wrath/Lich King era... take the time to look into it. You won't be disappointed.

Get a friend that works for an ISP & have them plug into the backbone, that should take care of it

The big story is that in five months, we will start hearing about the replacement for Cataclysm. That will be so welcome!
