Breakfast Topic: Are you attempting to buy BlizzCon tickets today?

That's a pretty strong testament to peoples' love for the Blizzard brand. After all, there are plenty of reasons to not want to go to BlizzCon. Tickets are more expensive than ever, costing $175 each. For many of us, lodging and airfare are even bigger expenses. And after spending what may amount to a thousand dollars or more, most our time at BlizzCon will be spent waiting in lines. Line after line after line after line.
And yet, despite all those reasons not to go, tickets will still sell out today in 1 second.
Given the long odds and high costs of attending, are you still going to be trying to get that elusive ticket (or four) to BlizzCon 2011 today? Or are you taking a pass this year?

I wish. I don't have the money to fly out there and purchase the tickets needed.

I just wish that Blizzard would do something that's more accessible for the European player base. It's been what, 3 years since the Paris invitational?
The additional expense of cross-Atlantic flights means that Blizzcon's out of most of our budgets. The fortunate few always have a blast, but lose out on the opportunity to do things like meet up with guild mates or bump into random people from their realms (though I'm sure some people do still manage it).
All in all it means that Blizzcon just feels like a big press conference to me- nothing near the interest and hype that seems to infect the American players.

Think across the Atlantic is bad? Try across the Pacific... *Grumble*
(Yes, yes, I know, there's not enough Australian players to warrant a Blizzcon down here, I KNOW.)

Agreed on this.
One of the cons I've found with all these "special events" is that not only they are super expensive but thats what the companies use to reveal everything. Sure, its good in terms of Q&A panels etc but I wish, oh so much wish, that Blizzard would have much more stuff going at like Gamescom thats held in Germany for example.
I mean they hardly have anything revealing at huge events like e3 which like 90% of huge companies use to reveal everything!
They should spread stuff around more. Maybe reveal some stuff at e3, some at blizzcon, some at gamescom, some at Toky gamesshow.
As it currently FEELS like its more of "Ok this year we are focusing on diablo 3 and next year on SC2 and WoWs expansion" while I'm pretty sure they could show Diablo at Blizzcon and some SC2 expansion stuff at e3 for example.

Man, I thought it was bad for me in Canada >.>
They should have more, smaller, localized events instead of one huge ass one most of the player base can't attend.

Nah it's got to be one big-ass one, because of all the announcements etc. Would be nice if they alternated between EU and US though.. We're just as big a portion of the playerbase. I guess they'd have a harder time finding a venue though, since America can definately cater towards the more extravagent at a cheaper price.

I'll pass this year, it's just growing too much of an investment to go there. I will, however, be buying the online stream. Not quite the same I'm sure, but I'd hate to miss out. :P
Donhorn May 21st 2011 10:46AM
That's what I did and I don't regret it. I say it's the next best thing to actually going with at least a few of the benefits. ;D
bleuchz May 21st 2011 8:13AM
Yes Fox, yes I am. And I still wish you would cross some fingers for me :P
mazca13 May 21st 2011 8:15AM
No, I am far away and poor!
visuallynoisy May 21st 2011 8:24AM
I might try the live stream this year. I wonder how the quality will be, though.
Tricia May 21st 2011 9:36AM
Other then a few hiccups every so often we've have great quality and find it well worth the money to watch as a pay per view.
Gendou May 21st 2011 8:24AM
No, though I will buy the virtual ticket.
Gendou May 21st 2011 8:26AM
Anyone want to bet the Blizzcon pet this year will be a Diablo-themed Murloc?
bleuchz May 21st 2011 8:35AM
I'm still x'ng my fingers the "new IP" is the big announcement this year :|
Darky May 21st 2011 11:22AM
Nah it will most likely be WoW: New expac.
Ebrion May 21st 2011 8:33AM
No... *weeps in corner*
Bril May 21st 2011 8:33AM
I know Anaheim is super-convenient for Blizz, but they really need to step up and do a BlizzCon at least once somewhere else in the US. I don't think they'd go bankrupt if they took baby steps to Vegas or even to the Midwest and made it a shorter potential trip for more people.
llamallab May 21st 2011 8:45AM
Sadly i am passing on trying to get the tickets this year.. Bills are too tight to afford the tickets =( One day I will be able to go ... 1 day
MusedMoose May 21st 2011 8:47AM
I'd love to go, but at the same time, I don't know anyone who'd want to go with me. The friend I usually play WoW with hasn't been on recently and hates crowds, so there's that, and everyone else I know who played WoW has quit. And BlizzCon isn't something I'd want to go to alone.
