WRUP: Fill in the blank

BlizzCon 2011 is still five months or so away, but you can't blame all of us here at WoW Insider for dreaming about it a little. It's "the" event, the crowning moment for what is likely to be an already amazing year.
Of course, that said, none of us really know any details about what's going to happen at BlizzCon 2011. We know there will be a couple of game-related announcements, sure. We know that there will be some panels (and eventually, some YouTube remixes). And most importantly, we know there will be the most amazing, kick-ass party of the year on Thursday, Oct. 20.
For the most part, there are an awful lot of blanks. So, with nothing better to do this weekend, I figure you all could maybe help fill some of those blanks in. MadLib style.
While you're coming up with numerous nouns, adjectives, verbs, and the like, I took the time to ask our regular columnists a bonus question: "What kind of news are you expecting out of this year's BlizzCon?" I requested they be as specific as possible, so that we could revisit this column sometime on Oct. 22 and see who was closer to the truth -- a panel of our best experts, or you, having randomly picked a bunch of words out of thin air.
Anne Stickney (@Shadesogrey) More than likely messing around on the PTR and checking out all the new quests and things in between hanging various bits of art around the house. BlizzCon? I'm expecting we'll see the next WoW expansion announced, the next Starcraft expansion announced, possibly a peep about Titan -- possibly. Basically I think the opening ceremonies are going to have a hell of a lot more info and interesting bits than they did last year. I hope!
BlizzCon 2011: The wrap upChase Christian (@madsushi) I'm going to be picking up LA Noire and playing some more Diablo 2 to get myself psyched for Diablo 3. I'll also be spamming F5 on the BlizzCon ticket page. I think there's a good chance that we get both a Diablo 3 release date and the first look at the next StarCraft expansion (Heart of the Swarm) at BlizzCon this year.

The curtain has finally been drawn on BlizzCon 2011, and there's no question -- this was the most [adj.] BlizzCon yet.
Daniel Whitcomb (@danielwhitcomb) My warlock is now Zul-capable, so I may see how she holds up on a few runs. I'm also considering getting my gnome warrior out of the mothballs since my guild still needs one of those at 85 for the Classy Gnomes achievement. Oh, and my prediction for BlizzCon: An expansion that will focus on Burning Legion content, possibly with new worlds to travel to and a revamp of BC leveling content, and including a runemaster or monk class.
The biggest news out of BlizzCon, of course, was the new Titan MMO. Set in [location], the groundbreaking new game will pit [occupation] against [occupation], all trying simply to [v.] in a harsh new world. It is initially scheduled for release in [year], or "Soon" -- whichever comes first.Fox Van Allen (@foxvanallen) My friend @windkeeper4 is visiting me here in Boston and we're up to all sorts of hardcore stuff -- cooking 44 pounds of chicken, watching Parks and Recreation at 2 a.m., and probably saying a whole bunch of offensive nonsense on the ol' Twitter. Oh, and a wedding reception with a tiny, angry horse. BlizzCon 2011 spoiler alert: A certain WoW Insider will turn up face down in the Anabella pool on Friday morning. Who? Well ... you'll have to show up at the party Thursday night to find out!
Joe Perez (@Lodurzj) Catching up on reader email, playing some League of Legends that Matt Low and other guildies have got me back into playing again. Leveling my baby alts some more, and grinding valor points and ZA/ZG gear on my hunter. As far as BlizzCon this year, I expect official word on Titan, news about the upcoming Heart of the Swarm expansion for SC2 and more information regarding D3 and the beta phase. I also expect more information regarding the Deathwing fight (if we haven't had it by then) as well as the future of the game's lore and moving into the next WoW expansion. I will also hold out hope that there will be a glorious announcement of a in-game tattoo parlor where I can finally make my dwarf shaman look like a wild hammer ... please? *crosses fingers*
More applicable to this site, though -- there was absolutely huge World of Warcraft news. Expansion 4, [n.] of the [adj.] [n.]. Bringing with it tons of new quests and new [n.], the early line is that players will not be disappointed -- or [adj.]. The expansion will launch with [number] raid instances, including the one previewed at BlizzCon, The [adj.] [synonym for building]. Those who complete the instance in heroic mode can expect to battle alongside [lore figure] as they once against save the world (or, at least, [v.] it for a while).Josh Myers (@Elamqt) I'm moving tomorrow, so I will most likely spend the weekend not playing any games. As for BlizzCon, my guess is that they'll announcing the full removal of the shadow tree from the game, to be replaced by an as-yet-unnamed melee healing spec that involves using a lot of cooldowns, as that is what Fox Van Allen does best.
Kelly Aarons (@Cadistra) Finally took Cadi through ZA. Tough, but fun. I hope to be running it more, as pretty much all feral druid BiS are in both ZA and ZG. As for BlizzCon? I think we're going to hear a lot of Diablo 3, the next SC 2 expansion, maybe the next WoW one, and ... a morsel of Titan. Also, if the WI party is even half as fun as it was last year, then it will be amazing with a capital A.
The panels, as usual, provided us some incredible insight into game mechanics and lore. Anne Stickney was able to drag quite a few answers out of Chris Metzen, including confirmation that Elune was a [WoW race]. At the class panels, our own Tyler Caraway was able to fire off a couple questions about a new fourth spec for the [WoW class]. He may have embarassed himself by [v.]ing his pants in front of millions of people on the BlizzCon DirecTV live feed, but ... well, it's Tyler. I don't think anyone was really that surprised.Lisa Poisso (@emused) It's an offline weekend -- I have too much ground to cover in my reading stack, including the new one from this week's 15 Minutes of Fame subjects. As for BlizzCon: Those in attendance will have a much broader scope of interest than merely "the next patch/expansion/WoW thing."
Mat McCurley (@gomatgo) If LA Noire doesn't get here this weekend, I'll be sad. Potentially starting a new Mass Effect playthrough on the PC to get ready for ME3. As for BlizzCon news this year, some Titan, new WoW expansion, screens of the next StarCraft expansion.
Matt Low (@Matticus) Been busy playing League of Legends with the guild. Getting a little more proficient at it. Perhaps some more time leveling yet another priest. BlizzCon predictions: Starcraft 2: Heart of the Swarm details, along with the lead game to be Titan, and the next World of Warcraft expansion.
Matt Walsh (@Rhidach) Finishing up Portal 2 this weekend. I'm probably halfway through and some crazy stuff is happening. I'm on the edge of my seat at where this is going. As for BlizzCon, isn't this typically when they name drop the next expansion?
We had an absolutely [adj.] time at the WoW Insider party and meet up this year. Mat McCurley rocked the mic, and [columnist] got terribly drunk and fell in the pool. Sadly, this will have been [columnist]'s last BlizzCon, at least while working for WoW Insider: they made a pass at [columnist], got a little too [adj.], and wound up [v.]ing though a plate-glass window. (Our continued apologies to the Anabella hotel. And to that poor [animal] farmer.)Michael Gray (@writegray) This weekend, I will be playing Failoc while attempting to get BlizzCon tickets. My prediction for BlizzCon: We're going to have a bitching party Thursday night, and it will be the place to be. Lastly, RIP Macho Man.
Sarah Nichol (@mentalshaman) Painting a fence. While I wait for the PTR to reinstall. Again. On the topic of BlizzCon, I think if we're lucky we may get a name for the next expansion, let alone the project represented by Titan. I reckon BlizzCon is going to be focusing on Diablo 3 in a huge way, as the game goes into beta around that time, so I expect to see a release date. Also someone has got to cosplay Nozdormu. Lastly, if Cataclysm is to shaman as Wrath is to paladins, then the next expansion will be all about priests (or Anduin, at least.)
Oh, and lastly -- if any of you have pictures of me and my [noun], I'd appreciate you delete those from your digital camera. What happens in BlizzCon stays in BlizzCon, know what I mean?*Tyler Caraway (@murmursofadruid) I will be moving to Boston this weekend! It's a pretty huge move on my part, and I am beyond excited about it. Doubt I'll be able to find much play time, but who knows what it is that I might get into. This year at BlizzCon, I'm thinking they'll actually have something big to announce; last year was pretty weak. D3 probably won't hold that much importance this time around, they might announce the next portion of SC2? Or that may even come to light before hand since we already know that they are coming, but, if one hasn't come out already, then I would expect some form of official preview. There wasn't anything at all even mentioned for WoW last year, so this time around I'm sure they'll get to something. If they stick to their planning, then I'd guessing they'll announce the setting for the next expansion, maybe some light details.

Yay Boston! Waitaminute... isn't that where FVA lives too?
fox.vanallen May 21st 2011 11:52PM
Yes, he's sitting on my couch right now. Curious that he'd do that considering how much he claims to hate me, huh?
Tom May 22nd 2011 12:22AM
D'awww!
potatoboy May 22nd 2011 9:11AM
I declare FVA should be pronounced "Fevah."
Now and forever.

I'll be trying not to completely burn out. Will be looking for something to spend some time away from WoW with. My main in our guild's primary raid group just downed Nef for our shadow gryphons and the thought of now doing it all over again... but harder!... wearies me. I miss the kind of icon we had in WotLK where ICC was always looming as the goal we were working towards. There's nothing like that in Cata.

Got the Witcher 2 on Tuesday and just beat it last night. Went out and picked up L.A. Noire today and played it for about an hour before I set it down and went to start up my second play through of the Witcher 2. It's not that L.A. Noire is a bad game, it seems like it will be a lot of fun. It's just that the Witcher 2 is so amazing I can't stop thinking about it.

...including confirmation that Elune was a fel reaver.
Al May 22nd 2011 6:39AM
Emerald Dream: Elune, put away the Scythe!
Elune: No! I must stop the Worgen!
Emerald Dream: No, Elune. You are the Worgen.
And then Elune was a werewolf.

welcome to new england, tyler!! if you ever feel like pulling some kind of crap on fox, let me know, i'd be happy to help. ]:)

You should know that all ShadowPriests are on 24/7 alert and prepared to portal to Fox's location and form a Dispersal shield around him should any druids attempt anything silly.
And after those 6 seconds we will melt face.
compute_x May 22nd 2011 5:45AM
L.A. Noire is easily GOTY.
