@icepyro: Yeah, that's what a tabard in real life does, and to an extent what they do in-game, but since virtually every tabard that has been released in the past couple expansions now has a bonus effect on it (increasing rep, teleporting, etc.), people wear tabards not to show loyalty to any one faction but for the bonuses. I personally feel like if I'm not wearing a tabard I'm missing out, but I would like to be able to see just my armor sometimes and still get the bonuses. While some tabards look cool, I don't like the look of tabards in general: they just seem like they'd be annoying and get in the way. A "Show/Don't Show" check box like for helms and cloaks would be great. The only truly optional gear slot that you can say "if you don't like the way it looks, don't wear it" about is the shirt.
