The Queue: The Golden Crown

Was the end to last Sunday's episode amazing, or what?

Ziis asked:
Has Blizzard improved on the in game voice chat?
If Blizzard has made modifications to it, it's never told the community. In fact, the in-game voice chat has never come up in my conversations with Blizzard people, which now strikes me as kind of odd.
My guess is that it's not used in the western world very much, but that it might be used more overseas. Remember that just because the 4 million or so North American players don't use it (and even adding another 2 million English-speaking EU players, or whatever the number is), that's still only half the WoW playerbase. There's another huge part we don't really know about, so I think it's illogical to say no one uses it. (Sorry, MattKrotzer -- you're still awesome!)
Docseuzz asked:
My real life has kicked my raiding options square in the pants -- without raiding with my guildies, what is the best way to raise guild rep? The ~35 rep per daily turn in is going to make the grind from revered to exalted take forever...
Yes, it is going to take a lot longer without raiding. My recommendation would be to get a guild tabard, try to do as many dailies as possible, and run as many guild heroics as you can.
Tish commented:
So my husband was running a dungeon after answering the healer call to arms. He sucessfully finished the dungeon but did not get his sachel. After putting in a ticket they told him it is a known bug that if you join a group, and then a player leaves and you have to re-queue then you no longer are considered as queuing solo and forfit your sachel. I've never seen this mentioned on WoW Insider, granted I don't read every word in every blog post, but is this something that is widely known and I just missed it, or is it something that should be made more public knowledge? But seriously that is a pretty nasty bug, cause how many times do you loose/kick someone in your group, and if that happens you might as well leave too and re-queue, if you are doing it just for the sachel.
Wow. I had no idea that's a bug, but it makes sense that it exists (in a buggy way). After researching, I've found a fair number of other reports of this. I bet it doesn't happen to everyone, though. Either way, now people will know about it!
TL;DR version: If you queue to get a satchel via the Call to Arms and someone leaves your group, you might not get a satchel if you requeue because you're queuing as a group and not as an individual player.
Disclaimer: This hasn't been noted as an official bug, so take it with a grain of salt.
Marky asked:
Do you play Rift?
I've played it, got to about level 25 or so, then stopped. It really just felt like WoW 2.0 to me -- so instead, I went and leveled a goblin warlock and actually played WoW 2.0.

Indeed, awesome, pics. He had it coming.

Game of Thrones is Awesome!!! they have stayed very close to the books (Song of Ice and Fire George RR Martin) which are much better, but there is only so much that can be converted to TV format.
I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone that whats an epic fantasy series

Just to get this higher in the comments so people don't have to scroll through or down a couple pages:
You can easily get tons of guild rep by wearing the rep tabard for your guild (there's a 50% extra version and a 100% extra version after hitting certain rep levels) and then doing areanas. The system doesn't "count" the bonus rep, so if you were wearing your 100% extra rep, you can get double the rep before hitting the cap for the week.
As a human, I was getting over 700 rep per win.

/cry I wish I had that CHANNEL! You guys are killing me here. I can't seem to even get it from itunes. It's a conspiracy I tells ya!

I've read all the books (psyched that GRRM finally is getting around to releasing Dance with Dragons in a little over a month), and have really enjoyed the show. They've done a good job matching actors to their characters. It was great to finally see Viserys get his 'crown'.

I'm wondering where the youngest stark brother is, I haven't even noticed the little fella (mind you he wasn't exactly a major character, just figured they should introduce him sooner than later)

Not related but I really wanted people to see this. If i get downvoted I get downvoted I guess.
If you can't raid to get your guild rep, another good alternative is arena. You get roughly 500's in guild rep, with guild tabard I get like 675? So just grab a friend who will help you out and slog through those 7 wins. If you're pvp geared, won't take long at all. If not, still way easier then other options. IMO.

@Xsinthis: They've shown Rickon Stark a couple times now, but you gotta pay close attention. I wondered the same thing til I watched every episode a million times (cause they're that great) and finally noticed him. He's in the first episode at the beginning during the archery scene, when Catelyn Stark glares down at Jon Snow you can see Rob in the background showing Rickon how to shoot. Once you see his face you'll start noticing him in more scenes.
Neeta May 24th 2011 3:42PM
That's such a great scene reading it in the book. Definitely not what you expect.
Phaelan May 24th 2011 7:11PM
Rickon doesn't play a big part in the first book so I'm not surprised he's not there
what does surprise me is the limited amount of screen time that the Direwolves have particularly with Bran and Jon (having Ghost growl in that seen really irked me)
The story from here on out will be pretty much non-stop, probably straight through till the 3rd-4th season

Son of Mine got off easy with the Doctor. Not so much with Kahl Drogo. That was indeed a crown that men shall tremble to behold.
Almoderate May 24th 2011 8:47PM
Also... Always happy to see Peter Dinklage in just about anything. I wonder if they could snag him for the WoW movie.
Naku May 30th 2011 4:06AM
I loled when I saw the picture :))) genius.
MattKrotzer May 24th 2011 11:05AM
I stand by the statement that nobody uses it, because it's nigh-unusable. There's no independent volume controls, so it's feast or famine on whether you can or cannot hear someone. The result depends on the speaker's output levels, which means even within the same group, someone can be quiet as a mouse, while another person can be heard from the hilltops.
The ONLY good thing about the system is the popup UI that shows who is speaking.
Everything else is shit.

There's overlays for Mumble, and I believe some addons might do that too.
Soooo... Only redeeming quality stumped by the almighty Mumble in every way? :P
MattKrotzer May 24th 2011 11:12AM
Nice. Thanks for that!
Nina Katarina May 24th 2011 11:14AM
The reason I don't use ingame voice chat is because if WoW goes down, your chat goes down, but if I'm using mumble or vent then I can still be in contact with the people in my group even if my client is having problems. And I suspect it's quicker to reconnect to vent after the modem or router goes out than it would be to reconnect to ingame chat.
Nick May 24th 2011 11:26AM
Hence why every self respecting guild uses mumble.
unfortunately we have no self respect and so use vent :(
