I always read the name as "Shard of the Talisman of Binding"; Talisman of Binding Shard doesn't make a whole lot of sense unless you read it that way.With that in mind, I'm fairly certain that your assertion that the item was initially part of the Thunderfury chain is accurate. Talisman of Binding sounds very similar to the final "Bindings of the Windseeker".
