WoW Moviewatch: MMO Lolita
Brunhila is still relatively new to the machinima scene; we featured her first video, Mad World of Warcraft Cataclysm, in January. She's back with another song, MMO Lolita. This is a WoW-themed parody of Madonna's La Isla Bonita, though it sounds like the entire arrangement was recreated by Brunhila.
I really, really love Brunhila's work. Her sense of humor feels insightful and intelligent, and her works tend to reference the universal experiences in WoW we all encounter. Obviously, she's got some great musical skill; I love the way she arranges the parody, and her vocal performances knock it out of the park.

Ah... loved this.
And I hate to say this but it made me laugh at all those people who say "girls don't play wow..."
Cause if nothing else this is proof. This is the kind of issue that pretty much only a female raider is ever going to care about or find annoying. And lets face it, we've all met at least one female gamer whose a lolitaish type persona, regardless of age...

Must have posted about the same time, but trust me, most guys in a relationship, or just ones that understand what this is all about, find it incredibly annoying as well. My wife plays, she gets along well with every guild we have been in, but not nearly as well as "that girl" who logs into vent and acts like a drunken sorority chick all night. Even worse when it tears guilds apart.
Quasi May 24th 2011 12:18PM
Excellent work, much like he last video, look forward to more!
Also, /glare and despise those blasted lolitas.
Trisong May 24th 2011 12:25PM
How much do you want to bet that mmo Lolita is actually a dude?
Brunhila May 24th 2011 1:26PM
It's pretty funny you should say that. One of my ideas for the end, during the credits, was to have rl footage of an old guy in a t-shirt at the computer giggling or saying "tee hee" or some sort. Couldn't talk my dad or my husband into doing it though. But, I really liked some of my guild's vent chatter that went on during the filming so I decided to use that instead. Thousands of people hearing my GM sing "secret agent..." = priceless.

Amazing vocals, really distinctive as well, which is nice!
And horny kids ARE so obscene!
We MADE an 18+ chat channel in my old guild after some of the (actually, younger) members got a bit excessive in their chat.
I didn't join it, but judging by the gchat comments about it, it was almost entirely populated with the guild's ~15yr olds.
Go figure :P

Huh, I randomly capitalised the word "made"...
erm... I know, I'll blame the stupid comment system!
*shakes fist*

I was thinking it's a parody of "Moi, Lolita".
Fragments May 24th 2011 1:13PM
Yeah, if I'm not wrong, that's a parody of Moi Lolita by Alizee, the French pop singer. Although it's set to the tune of La Isla Bonita, I think. Which she also covered. :P
J May 25th 2011 8:37AM
Why, because it has the word 'lolita' in the title?
That's the only common link I can make between this song and Alizee's. The word 'lolita' is NOT unique to that song. God, it really gets under my skin when people claim references and sources based on their limited pop cultural knowledge.

YAY! Brunhila, me proud dwarven sister! XD
Brunhila has such a great voice and has once again delivered a parody with depth, humor and originality. I love her stuff so much. Sure, part of it is that I also religiously play a red-headed dwarf lass but honestly, her voice and overall musical style is so much more "my thing" than a lot of the hip-hop stuff that comes down the pipe.
Keep it up girl! /Dwarf POWAH!
Brunhila May 24th 2011 6:45PM
Thank-you! Dwarves do rock the most. That's why our racial ability is Stoneform... lol :)

With few exceptions I usually don't make it through the whole video on Moviewatch, I just lose interest somewhere in the middle.
Brunhila's videos are one of those exceptions, I love 'em, the only problem is they don't come fast enough for me!
Excellent work.
Dude May 24th 2011 1:32PM
WTF????????????????FFFFFFFF??????? I need to wash my brain out now and hope the cops don't know my real id. Thanksss.
Oakraven May 24th 2011 1:33PM
Tris between voice and Real ID its not hard to spot whos realy is or is not a dude.
and I have to agree with Quasi. I find them disruptive at best.
that and for some of us the whole ERP bit gets old. Fast.
Kind of makes me glad that bliz has been moving away from some of the older semi nude /chainmail thong and Plate bikini armor look on FM modles. (that and its easyer to undercover some of the more egregious examples by useing shirts and pants as an underlayer)
Jabadabadana May 24th 2011 5:11PM
This would be slightly funnier, if I'd ever met a girl on wow who was not married with children. (though I suppose if one of them tried this, it would be another kind of bad mess)
The only thing I've ever run into like this is guys pretending to be girls, but through chat only.
Maribel May 24th 2011 6:14PM
Just count your blessings. I don't know that I've ever encountered a teenager who acted like this, but college students? Definitely. Hell, my college roommate would have been close to this if WoW had existed back in the 19th century when I went to college.
bldavis59 May 24th 2011 5:14PM
all i can say is another great song, i cant wait for the next one brunhila!
Hairfish May 24th 2011 10:26PM
Great sentiment/lyrics, nice video, and *INCREDIBLE* voice. It's so refreshing to hear a real voice, and not that electronic stuff. The fact that it's a voice that's so easy to listen to is just bonus. :)
Thanks for this. :)
Phaelan May 24th 2011 11:04PM
I had to read Lolita for school...first thing that came to mind when I saw the title...
