While there may be a grace period for getting the names on the tickets confirmed, changing the names at the event requires you to have access to the credit card used to purchase the tickets. This would allow to, for instance, give up your ticket to someone you trust but will leave scalpers (or, realistically, those who buy scalped tickets) out of luck.
