You know what WoW is missing?
Finger movements. I want to see them fing.
IicyJay asked:
Anyone have any idea what BlizzCon tickets will go for on eBay?
I know you asked this yesterday in anticipation of not being able to grab them last night, but I wanted to chime in here as someone with a lot of BlizzCons under his belt and hearing a lot from Blizzard folks about this.
Don't do it.
People are scammed constantly over these tickets. The tickets might be fake, they might not be sent out at all, the seller might not understand he has to put the ticket in your name or be there in person, etc. There are so many points of failure and so many ways for you to get royally screwed. If you do get screwed, Blizzard isn't going to be able to do anything about it. Their people will be as heartbroken as you are, but they can't fix it.
Think of it this way, too: If you get a $175 ticket, you're going to end up spending another $600 to $1,000 on the flight, hotel, and food. Do you really want to bet that $1,000 on a stranger's integrity? I sure don't.
The best way to get tickets is to connect with people who are going, get to know them for a while (guildmates), and then get everyone to enter the ticket queue to buy tickets. Twitter can also be a great place to find tickets, as some community members get extra tickets occasionally and offer them up. (I realize that community people on Twitter are still strangers, but they've built up their reputation in a big way over the years, and 99.99% would never do anything to harm it.)
So, please, think twice before you buy off eBay.
Vyle asked:
Speaking of 80's cartoons, Transformers or Thundercats?
I was going to say Thundercats and Cheetara, but then I remember Duck Tales. And life was good again. (Pro tip: Don't Google Cheetara while at work.)
Walker space asked:
I've seen children and adults but no pregnant NPCs. I don't think they exist. Prove me wrong.
Moira Bronzebeard was with child during her time in mountain.
Jaina's been packing on the pounds, too; maybe something's up.

"Their people will be as heartbroken as you are, but they can't fix it."
I doubt they will be as heartbroken as someone shelling out a lot of money and then STILL cant get in.

Also "Jania's been packing on the pounds, too; maybe something's up."
I inadvertently inserted a 'been' in your sentance - and sprayed my laptop with orange before reading it correctly :)

No, the guys that are there, handing out tickets, etc... they really do care, and are not at all happy when something goes terribly wrong for someone.
First hand experience -- they're not just corporate shills.
Sinthar May 26th 2011 11:21AM
Yes I do understand what you mean Adam, but are they going to as upset as someone whos booked rooms, travelled for hundreds of miles and paid out hundred of dollars? I dont think so mate - upset yes - upset as the customer realising they have wasted holidays from work, and vast ammounts of money as well? I dont think so. Please dont take me wrong, Im not saying they dont care, but I dont think they will then leave the convention and feel bad about it the same as the customer.
Im sorry if i didnt express that as well in my original comment - I certainly do not want to portray they people helping as emotionless or uncaring. I just dont think they will care AS MUCH as the person who has just cost themselves (and potentially other family/guild/friends) quite a sum of money, time and effort. Thats not even going into the disappointment factor of expecting a hugely enjoyable time, that feels snatched away from you.
I hope I have made what I mean clear now. And again my apologies if my prior post did not reflect that clearly

As an avid ebayer with over 800 sales and a perfect, 100% reputation, I think people on eBay are far more likely to go out of their way to maintain integrity. Of course if you buy your tickets from someone who has less than 10 positive rep and 90% positive record (on eBay anything under 98% is sketchy), you're going to get screwed out of your money. But most of eBay is very honest.
On top of this, eBay and Paypal's customer support always is willing to help in the case of fraudulent sales. If some chump is selling fake tickets and the buyer realizes he doesn't want to go to "Blizzord con," he can simply call up eBay and they'll work it out. eBay isn't nearly as sketchy as it once was. =P

When I read the part about Jaina putting on the pounds, the first thing that popped into my head was "THRALL'S BALLS!"

I think you're being kind of nitpicky over a figure of speech- certainly the people handing out tickets don't have to deal with all the same long and short-term grief about this as the person who shelled out all that money- but they certainly do care, and Adam was using a figure of speech to show that. Maybe it was a little hyperbolic, but really, I don't think anyone is under the illusion that it doesn't suck MORE for the person who got scammed (even if half the time they'll tell themselves that the person deserved it for being 'stupid' or whatever). He's just pointing out that the people at Blizzcon who have to deal with it really do care and aren't just coldly standing by and saying "Too bad, so sad"

2 points:
1. If you but the ticket anywhere other than from Blizzard you are rolling the dice. It's just like for a concert or sporting event. It's downright shady how little tickets they release for events to begin with. Ticket brokers seem to get their hands on a lot more than legitimate customers. Having said all that there should be a way to verify your tickets before you get to the event. (I don't know if there is or isn't but they should make something available)
2. If you purchase the tickets from a place such as ebay and use a major credit card you should be able to dispute the charges through the credit card company in the case of a fraud. They may or may not have a special policy regarding tickets so I would check that out first.

Personally I think Blizzard could do a lot more to curb scammy eBay sales in the first place. Like working with the supposedly no-longer-shady email to close blissful ticket sales, get the info for the scum making the sale, and canceling their tickets anyway

No love for Darkwing Duck? That may have been early 90's. Hard to tell lol I watched cartoons pretty much from birth all the way up to this morning before work.
Let's get dangerous!

I am the terror that flaps in the night!
I am the rock, that's stuck in your shoe...
That's the only other line I can think of, anyone know more?
Ullaana May 26th 2011 12:01PM
@Mike,
I thought it was, "I am the Terror that quacks in the Night..."
Ullaana May 26th 2011 12:28PM
In tune with today's topics, a small ripoff of Darkwing's opening,
"I am the Terror that flaps in your world,
I am Deathwing Dragon!"

I am the itching powder in your jock strap, I AM DARKWING DUCK!
Moobs May 26th 2011 1:52PM
DWD was also very cool:
Darkwing: A desperate criminal is at large, and terror runs through the streets like a pair of cheap stockings! But it's hopeless! No one gets the drop on Dark-
Gosalyn: [drops on top of Darkwing] Gosalyn Waddlemeyer! Boy, Darkwing, you gotta work on your narration. They write better stuff on Saturday morning cartoons.
Darkwing: Oh yeah? Well, how's this? [flips Gosalyn upside down] In a lightning move, Darkwing turns the tables-
[Gosalyn starts tickling him.]
Darkwing: -on the t-tiny t-terror... will you stop that! That's no fair tickling...
