The Queue: Claudia Shepard

I impressed myself with how much my Mass Effect 2 Shepard looked like Farscape's Claudia Black. Now you get to see it, too.
Xotzalqual asked:
Will current T11 gear drop in iLvl to match heroic content iLvl when it becomes purchaseable with JP's? Meaning, will it suddenly become iLvl 246 or will it stay 259? I've heard it both ways and I would like a clarification of what exactly will happen to that tier level gear.
Heck, no! The items will remain at their current item level (359). Your method of acquiring them (JPs instead of VPs) is the only thing about them that'll change.
Ziggen asked:
How will we acquire Valor Points in patch 4.2? Of course from firelands raid, but will we still get VP from the heroic dungeons we have today?
Yes, you'll still get VPs for your first seven random heroics and seven Zandalari heroics, up to the 980 Dungeon Finder cap.
Kuro asked:
I need a clever pun name for my Tauren Druid (Bear/Tree). Any suggestions?
Firfur.
sflowers149 asked:
I might be too far down the Queue to get answered, but I saw on MMO that Bliz was talking about getting rid of the key ring and all superfluous keys. On the list of keys they were considering to keep I did not see the Karazhan key. I know it doesn't take the key to enter the instance anymore but you still need it to open the gate and the back door. If they take the key out will they also remove the gate/locked back door or will I ever be heartbroken that I can no longer run through Kara once a week?
If it requires a key in 4.1, it will no longer require a key in 4.2. That includes Karazhan.
Britty asked:
Since Patch 4.1 dropped, I've been experiencing a weird type of lag in dungeons. It's a bit hard to describe, but it's similar to what happens when you have a bad internet connection. However, unlike when you have a very weak internet signal, I'm able to type in guild or party and the messages go through. In my experience, it seems to happen more so on certain bosses, in particular ones that like spewing goo all over the place, like High Priest Venoxis and Lord Walden. However, it does happen on other bosses from time to time, but those in particular stick out to me.
However, I don't hear anyone else complain about this. As a healer, this really tends to screw me up, and cause wipes (especially if it's during Blood Venom in ZG, because I go splat since I'm running around waiting for it, and nothing is showing.) It doesn't tend to stop until that particular part is finished.
Is this situational? Am I one of the only people experiencing this? Is there a fix for it?
Note: I know what the poor signal internet is like from using my laptop at my job. My mobile broadband tends to be rather pathetic at most times (Thus, I know typing will not send messages through instantly or at all, if it is the internet.) However, my home internet that I use on my desktop is fine, which is where I do my instances at.
This phenomenon is called desyncing, and it happens to me (a longtime mobile broadband user) all the time. It's when you're still playing, and your actions are going through -- you're just way behind the world server (and the rest of your party). It's especially annoying on fights like, oh, all of them.
It's mainly a symptom of poor signal integrity from your connection. Blizzard tech support recommends a few ways to troubleshoot or fix it. Note that depending on your connection and hardware, it may be unfixable.
Kolonus asked:
I've been seeing the "Assist" function in the Interface menu, in macros, and in many new pet behavioral functions for some time now. Can you please English-ize "Assist" for me?
When referring to pets, assist means the following:
This stance will cause the player's pet to attack the player's target. The pet will not change targets unless the master attacks a new target for a few seconds. When referring to UI functions, it means "target whatever (x player or mob) is targeting." So if you /assist your main tank, you'll target what your tank is targeting at that moment.

Shepard is better female. The male voice actor sounds so dead and unemotional.
Scomparsa May 27th 2011 11:10AM
Which is why my female is paragon and my male is renegade :D

My Fem shep is renegade and my male shep is Paragon XD.

Couldn't agree more. Jennifer Hale is immensely talented. I don't know whether Mark Meer was asleep when he did his voice acting, but she eclipses him in every relevant way. Here's a link to a line-by-line comparison of the pre-launch speech from ME1, and it couldn't be more obvious that she's the better actor:

Also, Q for the Q: What's the character generation hash for the FemShep in the picture?
Oteo May 27th 2011 11:48AM
I love my female Shep so much, probably because of the strength of the voice acting (which gave so much character to my demure-looking ginger Shepard). I'm not sure I could watch a Mass Effect movie with another throwaway male main character.

I'm the exact opposite, while I don't think that the male voice over is excellent, the female one is worse. I don't get the "I'm going to hand you your arse", what I get is "I feel pretty uncertain about this. Please don't die on me." I guess we all hear different things in a voice.

Female Shep's voice is good and all. I just always worry that at some point, her and Kaidan will start discussing the force or how they need to stop Darth Malak from taking over the galaxy.
(The voice actors for both female Shepard (Jennifer Hale) and and Kaidan (Raphael Sbarge) voiced Bastila Shan and Carth Onasi respectively in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.)

Q for the Q: (And sorry its unrelated to original post, I just wanted tomorrow's article writer to find this)
The new pet assist thing. If I want to attack a different target than my pet, and don't want my pet to swap... is that still possible? If I use the keybinding I have for Pet Attack, will the pet STAY on the target I assigned him or will he leave if I don't keep it as my target?
ie- My Felhunter is attacking a healer in PvP. I swap to a warrior and DoT him up. Does this target change require my pet to swap to the warrior too?

I totally agree, always play as female. The voice acting is better.
Schadenfreude May 28th 2011 6:15PM
I play with a female Shepard (black lesbian Shep 4 lyfe) as well. Whenever I see boxartShep, all I can think is, "Who's this douchebag?"
Blayze May 29th 2011 3:20PM
I prefer Male Shepard's voice. He sounds less like "professional voice actor saving the galaxy", and more like "normal dude saving the galaxy". Or perhaps that's just because you can't swing a cat without hitting something else Jennifer Hale has VA credits in.
Sleutel May 31st 2011 7:42PM
I'm pretty sure I have an empty cardboard box around here somewhere that could have done a better job than the MaleShep VA. :\

Also, the heroic versions of tier 11 raids will still drop valor points.

In the current system, it's possible to hit the weekly valor cap from running 25-person raids alone. No dungeons necessary. After 4.2, 10s will be able to valor cap if they do the tier 11 heroics plus all or most of firelands. I wonder if they'll raise the weekly valor cap to reflect this possible increased income, or raise the prices of valor items? I can't see them making things that easy for 10s.
sporkwind May 27th 2011 11:26AM
@Nina
Heroic 10s are easy?
Red Hawk May 27th 2011 12:05PM
Actually that is one interesting facet of the 7 firelands bosses +1 for t12. In order to cap out weekly, regardless of raid size you do that on, you're going to either have to do 5 mans (thereby in theory adding extra tanks and healers), or use up time in the 'old' heroic raids.
Although Nina is correct in pointing out that you can cap vp by doing all 14 bosses in 25 man currently, if you're actually able to do that, chances are good you don't need the vp anyway. And those that are capable of that right now are probably not going to be looking at the t11 content once t12 is live.
Whilst at times i don't understand the VP cap, i can see some sense in it being that particular value. I do doubt that there will be an increase in the cap with 4.2, although a small one might well be implemented. In the long term, i'd wager we'd have the ability to finally face off against Deathwing at the time VP gets uncapped. (and then it will be recapped for 5.0.x)
Nina Katarina May 27th 2011 12:53PM
@sporkwind -
By the time you're killing 7 bosses in firelands I'd hope that heroic tier 11 10s would be easy.
Scomparsa May 27th 2011 1:28PM
@ Nina : you have to remember that heroic ICC is still hard to some people at 85...
DragonFireKai May 27th 2011 2:22PM
@nina
Hopefully when you're in Fireland Heroic 10s will be easier, but heroic 25s will be even easier than that.
