The Queue: How I do

If you've never thought following a Russian ebook-advertising bot pretending to be human on Twitter could be fun, well, clearly you've never met horse_ebooks.
Sirn asked:
Question - how is hit scaling going to work in firelands? I have a vague memory of blizzard mentioning they want the higher level raids to potentially require more hit.
We know that making more hit necessary as tiers progressed was a goal for Cataclysm, but we haven't heard anything about it for a while. It hasn't made an appearance in the UI on the patch 4.2 PTR, either, as far as I'm aware. At this point, I'm not sure if the design is still in place. We'll have to wait for patch day (or word from Blizzard).
Earthexile asked:
It seems to me that magic resistance is sort of a lame or unhelpful stat to have. I recall reading somewhere that we won't need to stack fire resist in the Firelands, which if true, makes me wonder why have it in the first place?
Do you think the resistance system is viable, or should it be revamped or even removed? It just doesn't seem to make that much of a difference.
It does make a difference. It's the kind of thing that might save you in a pinch, which resistance buffs will periodically do. But it isn't worth stacking, because at some point, your DPS or mitigation or healing throughput is going to be so hampered by doing so that you might as well not have bothered.
Back in the Molten Core days, losing some of that stuff didn't really matter as much because gear was itemized so badly and specs were such a mess that it was all right to stack resist (at least to a point). Now we rely on "good" stats -- that is, something that helps you perform your role better -- too much to stack defensive ones. Even if you're a tank, stacking resistance means losing out on other mitigation or avoidance, which are a much higher priority (and useful on every boss).
If it's just a buff, though? I'd rather have it than not have it.

Question: Is the WoW Insider meetup for Blizzcon going to be on Thursday night again? I'm trying to figure out my plans for that weekend and don't want to accidentally schedule something at the same time as the meetup!
Yep, that's the plan. Thursday night.
Minstrel asked:
Once the current valor point gear becomes available for justice points, will the current ilevel 346 justice point gear still be available? As a related question, will they still cost the same or be adjusted in price relative to the "new" ilevel 359 justice point gear?
I assume the current JP gear will remain available for JP, but if it's known one way or the other, I'd be interested. When gearing an alt in 4.2, the current VP gear doesn't fill all slots, so being able to cover other slots with the current JP gear would be nice.
Yes, the current 346 gear will remain available on the JP vendor. The prices haven't changed yet on the PTR, but they may before the patch goes live.

Why don't they do a legendary trinket? Not enough pizazz? Raiders would gobble it up if it gave a permanent (while equipped) 10-20% size increase.
If they were really feeling spunky, they could have class/spec specific effects, or make it a legendary for only tanks or only classes with pets (lore willing, of course).
I doubt it would fly or be easy but I just like the idea of an item so powerful and coveted yet isn't that obvious and huge weapon. Also they have had multiple role trinkets before so it's not unprecedented (BC druid-specific trinkets had different procs based on the form or spells/abilities used).

Q for the queue:
I'm going to surprise my baby tomorrow night by stuffing some dates with manchego and wrapping them in Bacon, but all we have in the house is turkey Bacon. That should still be good, right?

Alright, here's a question for the queue: Is there any chance that Blizzard will change Ragnaros slightly so that melee can get behind him to attack? It just seems silly (and a bit stupid) that the end boss of a raiding tier would be a Kologarn-style fight where melee can potentially lose a large chunk of DPS to misses and/or parries, and feral kitties are forced into the DPS-loss Mangle-spam rotation on top eating misses and parries.
Henri Poincaré May 29th 2011 2:09PM
Yes, it sucks not to be able to attack from the usual angle. But it's important not to forget to be thankful for the little things. For example, be thankful that Ragnaros doesn't shout "Oblivion!". It helps a lot.

Do melee need hit? An article yesterday seemed to suggest that a paladin rolling on a hit stat cloak was a bad thing and that a caster should have gotten it instead. I had thought every class and spec needed hit.
vocenoctum May 29th 2011 2:15PM
Holy Paladin= Healer= No Need For Hit. :)
Otherwise, melee needs less hit than casters, but some.
vocenoctum May 29th 2011 2:17PM
and of course, with reforging, the paladin could have made half that hit into spirit or something and it could have been a huge upgrade for him (if his current cloak sucked), but "rightfully" "need over greed" marks that as a dps cloak and so the dps caster should get dibs, but in a DF-Random-Pug, that's not a given.
Amanda A. May 29th 2011 2:19PM
I think that was about a holy paladin. Healers don't miss, and holy paladins have a spirit to hit talent for their mana-restoring Judgements and shockadin-ing. Ret paladins, and other melee, do need 8% hit. (And expertise, which is why casters need more hit.)
Draelan May 29th 2011 2:21PM
I'm not sure which article you're talking about, but there is absolutely NO situation where a paladin and a caster should want the same hit-rating cloak. (Excepting, possibly, for horribly itemized low-level gear) Ret and Prot paladins will want Strength on their cloaks, while casters will want Int. Holy paladins will want Int on their gear, but they do NOT want Hit.
Melee do, indeed, need hit rating, it's just the primary stats on their gear will be different.
Kren May 29th 2011 2:47PM
The only thing I have to add to this is that the paladin in question had to have had at least a 346 cloak as he was in one of the troll instances, I believe that's what the article yesterday said, which means at best it was a sidegrade and at worst it would have been a down grade.
icepyro May 29th 2011 5:52PM
The article in question was indeed about a holy paladin wanting a int and hit cloak. You need an average iLevel of 346 for troll dungeons, but that doesn't mean the cloak had to be 346 to be there to want that 353 one. It could have legitimately been an upgrade, but it still should have gone to the caster which benefits more. As everyone else has pointed out, holy paladins do want int, but do not need hit at all because their role is usually healing which requires no hit whatsoever.

Is there any speculation/datamining uncovered that might suggest what expansion Blizzard has planned for us?
Amanda A. May 29th 2011 2:22PM
Imo, the new draenei opening and a quest in Swamp of Sorrows points to a second Legion expansion soon, but I don't know that it's the next up. After all, this is a 50,000 year old draenei saying that it's coming....
Iirdan May 29th 2011 2:22PM
Place your bets on a heavy Night Elf themed expansion, likely dealing with Azshara or the Emerald Dream (or both!).
There hasn't been any real whisperings or hints, but given the existing lore that is all that really remains before they begin to cover new ground (which they very well might).

Don't forget about the Nozdormu/Bronze flight/Infinite flight plot that has been and still is developing.

Question for all!
Disneychannel.com has a dance studio, but WoW does not. Still.
How does that make you feel?
BurgerTea May 29th 2011 3:05PM
Bad.
Matthew May 29th 2011 3:42PM
They also have Hannah Montana and we don't.
That makes me feel GOOD
Kurash May 29th 2011 4:22PM
...You *want* WoW to have more in common with the Disney Channel?
joff_graham May 30th 2011 3:15AM
@Matthew - we have blood elves. Same thing really, only we get Hannah Montanah AND Justin Bieber in the same racial package.
