The Daily Quest: Mostly dead
WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative, and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere.
It occurs to me that in a cinematic world dominated by often-unnecessary sequels, The Princess Bride managed to avoid that particular curse. This is a terribly good thing, because it absolutely didn't need a sequel in any way. You hear that, moviemakers? Don't you start getting ideas.
Today, we've got a collection of posts from around the blogosphere regarding ... well, death. But don't worry. It's only mostly death.

- Totem Forest goes over the fine art of reviewing raid deaths on World of Logs.
- Righteous Defense points out agility for tanks is well and truly dead come patch 4.2.
- We Fly Spitfires asks the rather bold question, would it be good for the MMO industry if WoW died?

Amen to the Princess Bride comment. Also, Labyrinth. No sequel please...it's perfect just by itself.
Now technically, Willow DID get the sequel treatment, in book form. I'm talking about Chris Claremont's "Chronicles of the Shadow War" trilogy, which killed off basically everyone we knew and loved in the movie, with the exception of Willow and the two Brownies. And that's probably why it sucked. Madmartigan made that movie, darnit.

And I guess Labyrinth got a sequel treatment too, by way of the "Return to Labyrinth" manga...but I try to forget that nightmare ever existed.

A sequel? INCONCEIVABLE!!!

You keep saying that word... I don't think it means what you think it means.

The thing is, the original Princess Bride book (the one written by the original author S. Morgenstern) actually had a sequel. =\ It's called Buttercup's Baby. I'm not sure if it was ever completely abridged, or even translated into English, but there was a literary sequel. So, I guess we'd better hope the producers and whatnot don't find out.

S. Morgenstern was a pseudonym used by William Goldman who actually wrote it. He made references to wanting to "translate" the sequel Morgenstern (the ficticious character) wrote.
There was never a sequel- though that may be a good thing or not depending on how good it could have been. Personally, I dont think it was needed.

Oh. Well. Teach me to ever trust an author again when it comes to their work. >_< Especially considering all that (apparent) crap he wrote at the end of Princess Bride. Granted, I was never interested enough in the PB (beyond the basic read and enjoy) and its supposed sequel to really look any closer at all that, so maybe it's my own fault for not researching better. Oh well.

The Buttercup's Baby "sequel" I think was Goldberg's way of seeing if there was any interest in a sequel for the movie, wrapped up in the whole story of Morgenstern.
Personally, I would have liked to see what he would have done with the book if it was written. I'm kind of sad he only left it as a teaser.

"would it be good for the MMO industry if WoW died?"
Hmm, I don't have the talent to do it, but a line like this is begging for a Don McLean parody.

Well, it'd be good for my productivity if WoW died. But that feels like a different question.

Like most movies, we don't need it remade either...you got that Hollywood!?!?!!

Ahem. Agility is dead for *plate* tanks. For us bears, it's alive, well and living in Kansas.
