"Taming challenges"? Are they simply referring to the rares being difficult to tame, or is there some new mechanic required in order to tame them? The current wording seems awfully teasing, and I'm hoping that something awesome is afoot.

I would hazard a guess that the new mechanic is "This big, rare, elite is immune to CC so your fancy frost trap won't work on me and if you lose threat, well, if I don't listen to you when we first meet how do you expect me to listen to you later, but if you don't have someone taunt off you're gonna die a terrible, terrible death."As a non-hunter, I would be amused watching hunters go out of their way to kill themselves.

I had a long ramble about possibilities for this, but it basically came down to one thing: I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THIS. That's some serious love for hunters Blizzard has going - the promise of rare taming challenges, which is incredibly fitting for my hunter, who's been leveling as BM for most of his existence. ^_^ Also, there's a real joy in hunting the rare pets, something it's clear that Blizzard understands. What I hope for the most is that they've come up with a good way to make the challenges challenging but not based purely on random spawns or stuff like that. I'd like to feel like I'm really hunting something, and that my taming of said beast won't rely on me just finding it before someone else does. I'm really looking forward to more news of this.

Whenever I hear 'rare taming challenges', I think of all the usual miseries that you deal with while being a hunter.Only spawns on a random timer once every 3 daysOpposite faction is free to kill it and you while you're trying to get itWill one shot you if you're not careful

Agreed with VioletArrowsI read the line about "taming challenges" and felt my soul hurt. Heck, the spirit beasts in Northrend are still aggressively camped by hunters, and these will be worse.I'm thinking just rare spawn pets that everyone everywhere will be camping with all the other annoyances of taming rares. As for "Deth'tilac, the rarest and most powerful of them all" whatever it is won't stay powerful for long, or all the time they spent normalizing raid damage for pets will be for nothing. Somehow I doubt Mr. Deth'tilac's raid buff is a 30 minute Bloodlust.

@Mitawa, what they mean is "Most powerful of the eight beasts before it is tamed, making it an especially challenging challenge", not "This pet is the new wolf/cat".

My guess is the challenge is to get your guildies to come help you tame it.

Oh Dear blizz, please dont make me spend another month trying to get a new spirit beast-like pet :( I`d like to sleep without wondering if i could be taming it if i were on...

@ dk -Since three of my guildies were cool enough to run through Blackwing Lair with me so I could tame Chromaggus, if I asked nicely, I'm sure a few would help me tame these new pets too. ^_^My guildies are awesome.

The "challenge" will likely be that you have to camp it. That's been their definition in the past.Yea, that's not a challenge in my book either.
